I cannot get enough of this stuff. My favorite is the bottled Mocha Frappuccino. Anyone else have an addiction with Starbucks?

No but within 5 minutes of my house there are about 10 starbucks. 4 of them are within 2 blocks of each other or shorter.

1. At Top foods / Haggen
2. In Barnes and noble in the same parking lot.
3. Standalone place in that same parking lot
4. Next to Albertsons.

So you must live around Seattle.

I did that Starbucks density thing on their website and there are something like 60 within a mile radius and over a hundred within five miles.

Way too expensive; I'll stick with the Dunkin Donuts or ol' 7/11 coffee.

to be honest, Au Bon Pain is the best. The Coffee is all fresh. Everything is grinded by themselves...

I don't like Starbucks either. To me it tastes water downed. I prefer Cruzin Coffee or a local coffee shop here in Bellingham - Cafe Avellino.

according to some caffiend site i found from this place, starbucks uses substandard espresso, and from what i've tasted, they're right. i frequent the local joints as their espresso is far stronger.

I still enjoy Starbucks, but I've been venturing more into Coffee Bean and Peet's lately.

1) Espresso refers to a preparation method, so they don't use substandard espresso; rather, they prepare it in a way that leaves a lot to be desired.

2) Starbucks actually uses high-quality beans. The roast is also good (it's consistent, doesn't have any ill-effects from the roast itself, etc.) but it's simply too dark for most people. Still, if they prepared the espresso properly with these beans you'd still get a decent espresso. Some people actually buy the same beans they use (the one in the silver bag; these are relatively fresh) and have had positive results. I've done the same.

3) Being "strong" isn't an indication of espresso quality. Strong could mean a lot of caffeine, a lot of roast flavor, bitter, or simply a lot of flavor from whatever beans were used.

I find that rarely anyone actually buys coffee at Starbucks- more-so some overpriced frozen or sugared up drink.

The marketplace on my college campus sells Green Mountain Coffee which is probably the best coffee I've ever had, plus it's a measly $1.50 for a large cup

I say drink up! I bought some stock in Starbucks recently and they could use the sales now.

People complaining about Starbucks coffee prices, it's about the same as Dunkin Donuts and other coffee shops. $1.60-80 is about the norm everywhere for coffee other than gas stations and fast food places.

$4 for coffee? Are you paying with Hong Kong dollar or something? Last I checked, in the good old USA, coffee at Starbucks is around $1.80 for med or large. It's about the same at Dunkin Donuts.

Starbucks? You must mean Fivebucks Coffee.

Latte is not regular coffee. It's a specialty drink. Espresso. Go to a coffee house and order a latte. It will cost you that or more. People need to compare like with like.

Nobody needs your technicalities and half-truths. A cup of coffee at Starbucks costs no less than $17 and a latte is just short of $100. A cup of water costs only $3, but it is boiling and poured directly onto your head shortly after they stab you in the gut while chanting "hip... trendy... corporate America!". These are proven facts. Grow up.

I kind of knew most of that, but was being lazy. Either way, SB's brew just doesn't do it for me. I still get the jolt from a double shot from the local joint, and just get flavor from SB. Perhaps, I'll just have them add a shot.
