Bad idea. I've worked with 3d content generation and it isn't something that should be used after the fact. Either you plan for it during production or you don't do it. Adding it on later is a bad idea because it will look like just what it is when added on , a cheezy visual effect.

The proper way to do 3d is with cameras that are filming two distinct frames from different angles. How they intend to go back , take a single frame and suddenly make it two frames with two separate viewing angles and have it look correct I have no idea. They could do it with the visual effects because those could be re-rendered but not for live sequences.

The new editions suck balls with some of the changes. Not the least of which is "Han shot first" or them changing the ghostly image of Annakin Skywalker to a retard who can't act.

I love Star Wars and I loved the Star Wars games. I even read many of the books. But WTF Lucas? Please for the love of all things holy, retire and stop making hardcore fans retch as you kill this beloved franchise.

Yeah, I hate to sound like a Star Wars snob, but people who weren't around to see the original trilogy hit the theaters don't really know what Star Wars is about. The abominations of the "special" editions and prequels shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath with titles like "The Empire Strikes Back."

Admittedly I was 3 when Star Wars (mind you it was NOT called "A New Hope" then) was released, so I was a bit too young. But I do SPECIFICALLY recall going to see in the theater. I can recount several things that happened which my parents and siblings remember also. (side note: I can recall specifically where and when I bought my first action figure: Strorm Trooper. In the kid's clothes section at Sears in Brookfield Square shopping mall. I can still picture the display... droool).

Fast forward to the releases of Empire and Jedi... I was in PRIME Star Wars mania age. It was all I did as a kid.

I was 6.5 when Star Wars hit. I remember being surprised a few years later when I saw it again and he added the "Episode IV" and "A New Hope" to the opening scroll.

But I do SPECIFICALLY recall going to see in the theater. I can recount several things that happened which my parents and siblings remember also. (side note: I can recall specifically where and when I bought my first action figure: Strorm Trooper. In the kid's clothes section at Sears in Brookfield Square shopping mall. I can still picture the display... droool).

Darth Vader and the Tie Fighter were my first toys. I remember going to Children's Palace and seeing a HUGE row dedicated to Star Wars stuff throughout the run of the OT. They literally had hundreds of SW figures to dig through. It was GREAT!

Fast forward to the releases of Empire and Jedi... I was in PRIME Star Wars mania age. It was all I did as a kid.

My favorite part was that usually, the first wave of new figures for the upcoming movie was released a couple of months before the new movie. Keep in mind that we didn't have WWW access in the 80s, so these new figures appearing were kind of a "mini-spoiler" and I remember how much fun it was to try and guess who these new characters were or how they played out in the movies. I specifically remember seeing the Biker Scout figure and the first wave of Return of the Jedi figures and guessing if they were major characters or not.

But seriously, I agree. I'm only 22 now but I remember watching the original trilogy way back when. I also remember the hype of the "extended editions" and being totally underwhelmed and a little put off. Then... the Phantom Menace was released, and the rest is history.

I totally forgot about that aspect.
I completely recall going into stores and seeing a wall of new Empire/ROTJ figures and being like "Oh my gosh!!!! Who is this guy!!?! Why are they all in winter clothes!!?? SNOWTROOPERS?!!?? Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!!!"

All I got for birthdays, christmas, bar mitzvahs and arbor day for years was star wars crap. I gave it all to my son too when he turned 4. It is all now destroyed

In the 1977 Wish Book, the Falcon was nearly $25! Back then, that was quite a bit of money for a toy. I remember begging my mom for one. Luckily, I got it! :awe:

I still have them, though I am not 100% sure where they are and my Death Star isn't complete any longer. In my garage, I do have the Star Destroyer playset and Slave 1, along with a few other ships in my attic. The actual figures are in their figure cases, stored in my man cave closet.

I also have 7 of the original 12" figures boxed up. I should finish that collection.
