Star Wars Episode I: 3D. It sucks.

Not surprised. Though, I kind of want to rewatch the Star Wars movies now.

That chick, in the video. I'd like her...if she didn't smoke.

Really?

Mars re-released M&M candy a while back. Instead of chocolate wrapped in a colorful candy shell, it was dog shit. It was marketed as "M&M's made of dog shit". Quite a few people bought them knowing they were made of dog shit. The hapless consumers then went out and proclaimed, "These M&Ms are really shitty!".

Those who didn't eat dog shit partook in a smug but well deserved chuckle at the expense of their dog shit eating friends.

The end.

But, see, I actually want to see the Phantom Menace in 3D because I can't help thinking that maybe, just maybe, all these people are horribly misguided and actually the Phantom Menace in 3D is a masterpiece of film and technical ability.

I work in a Cinema, I was bored there was nothing to do and it was either watch that or Jack and Jill.

What would you have done?

I worked in a theater when I was a teenager and I have to admit I would sit and watch some seriously shitty movies.

serious dilemma: the 6 year-old nephew really wants to see this. He likes Star Wars stuff (has his share of lightsabers and costumes, though it took several years for him to give a damn about it), but he hasn't seen the movies and is "highly concerned that he isn't a true Star Wars fan." meaning, he doesn't know the story.

So, of course, I need to get him exposed to the original films, first, and try best to ignore these craps, even though he is going to be bombarded with it from the other kids at school.

....How exactly does one obtain the fan-made "fixed" versions of the remastered (and I think they now have HD?) original series? I know there is one DVD set that one can purchase on Amazon, but sound is borked for the un-Lucased versions.

The last copies of the trilogy that I owned were the Collector's edition VHS (letterboxed) set. I abandoned those some time ago, seeing as how I no longer had a VHS player.

He won't notice that gredo shoots first and will probably like all the CGI crap the Lucas added, he's six, let him learn the story then educate him on how to properly appreciate the originals.

kids love the new shit of course. But as an adult, I have the enviable position of him assuming that everything I do is always right (kid really looks up to me).

Therefore, I will take the opportunity to educate him on what is right, and how his pals at school are uninitiated.

But it's simply about exposing to the proper content, not any kind of lecture about the differences.

Sure I agree, but he is 6, if you show him the crapped version first and the original version second at this age he won't notice the difference, just give him the basics and build on it from there on out.

Just tell him that Lucas is Satan and get him into star trek.

I just want him to experience how awesome, for a kid of that age, the original versions are. None of the cheasy cartoony crap. For this, I don't really give a damn about Greedo shooting first, but cartoon Jabba in episode IV and the bastardization that was Jabba's palace in Jedi and the removal of the real Anakin....no sir, I won't have that.

and watching them in episodic order, it simply ruins the real trilogy. Not because you see the shit movies first, but because the story structure and OMG moments (Empire) are completely spoiled. A buddy of mine told me some time ago that we would show his kids episodes in order:1-6. I was aghast. He claims that it's the way they are meant to be seen. Shocking, I say. Shocking.

Agreed seeing them in that order is retarded. You'd miss this:
