Thanks for the new trailer.

My wife had never seen a single Star Wars (cant say why on here) and we just watched the first 3 (IV-IV) and now she wants to see the new one. My IMAX theater has reserved seating where you can pick your seats, like picking tickets at a concert. It is the only theater around here that I know of that you can do that. So we can get there 5 minutes before and walk right to out seats. Costs extra, but totally worth it to me.

Shorty has his tickets.
I am sitting in between nothing, and a handicapped space. No sharing of armrests here!
And I bought the seat in front of me to keep tall fuckers from blocking my view.
At 6 bucks a pop, it was worth it. I feel sorry for those assholes going broke on evening tickets. Plus the theater floor is gonna be friggen nasty by then.

Couple mentions I've seen from the premier indicate viewers very pleased with it.
That's true but when seeing the reactions of the first people to see Phantom Menace, they loved it too. I'm excited to see it but not expecting it to blow my mind.

Did you wait 2 weeks in line for your tickets?

I spent 3 minutes ordering them online.

Decided to watch the other movies in preparation. Had forgotten how bad The Phantom Menace really was.
Attack of the Clones is better, but only by comparison.

Hopefully I'm not depressed and suicidal by Friday. Would be a shame to waste the tickets.

Finally got some tix. Will be seeing it in IMAX 3D next Wednesday. All the best seats have been otherwise taken for all other showings before Christmas Eve. The pre sales for this movie are frickin impressive. I had to take a 10 am showing to get good seats, and even then they're a bit off to the side.

BTW I normally dislike 3D but there there is only one IMAX in all of Canada that will show it in the original 70 mm 2D IMAX version. That theatre is thousands of km away unfortunately and ironically its in my old hometown of <200000 people. My guess is they couldn't afford to "upgrade" that theatre to 3D so they lucked out for Star Wars and get it in its original glorious 70 mm 2D version.

I seen the movie. Overall I give it a 8/10, it's great yet frustrating. The humor and action is excellent, but the overall pacing is too fast, lack of character development and lack of truly memorable slow emotional scenes like Yoda training Luke in ESB which IMO that made Star Wars truly great that unfortunately drags it down. For the last I'm not sure whether it was JJ Abrams who doesn't have the talent to pull that off or because the Disney execs wanted otherwise.

I stopped reading.

Are you in one of the old school theaters where there is barely any incline?

Thank god they got rid of those as unless a person is 7+ feet tall it shouldn't be a problem.

God damnit. I'm having to stay off of facebook because people keep posting blatant spoilers in the comments on unrelated subjects.

Bomb threat in Houston schools...comments about who the bad guy is and who dies. Wtf trolls?

I hate stadium seating. I like wide cushy seats in a real theater (but yes--there should be some incline, of course).

But them I'm not a manlet and can handle some other manlet that sits in front of me.

Well the wife and I have watched 4 of the movies so far in two weeks in preparation of seeing the new one. She had never seen a single movie before. Watched 4-6 first, watched 1 last night. It is funny to hear her say how bad it was compared to the originals. From Jar Jar to the CGI, to everything else.

Hopefully the movie isn't ruined by spoilers, we aren't seeing it until Christmas day. But I am sure we'll hear about it, morning shows, fb, word on the street, etc. People just have to try and be cool (like the guy a few posts up) and let everyone know they 'seen' it. Ugh.

Uh... is there some reason why you can't have big comfy seats along with stadium seating? That's how the nice IMAX theaters I've been to are usually set up. Big incline to the seating areas so the seats in front of you are pretty low, but the seats are still nice. Not sure why you'd think you can't have both.

thats what I tried to do but Episodes 1, 2, and 3 were so bad they slowed me down. Now I've gotta watch 4, 5, and 6 all in one day.

there isn't a reason that you can't.

I also just don't like stadium seating at all. I don't want some jerkface's foot or knee in the back of my head, or have them dumping their dieabeetus drink on my head...and I also don't want to have to worry about my feet bothering someone else in front of me.

Far less often, stadium seats do not rock. I like thick rocky chairs....so that I can constantly annoy the people in front of me by bashing the back of their chair with my feet. :sneaky:

Hasn't opened in the US yet, but current presale estimates have it as most online tickets purchased for a single movie off all time with over $100 million worth of tickets already purchased.

If you dont prepurchase, you might not see it for a while.
And camping out in line is silly. Here in Virginia we've got icy cold rain.
Not a smart idea to get sick then go in a confined space with hundreds of people.
