Wait so real races do not exist anymore? When did Hollywood bring this stuff back after not existing for 2 millennia and shit? Gotta thank Hollywood for providing pure sport without plot, dialogue, or nonsport activities.

I'm a Star Wars fan. I have a freakin' Boba Fett tattoo for crying out loud. But honestly, the Ep 7 trailer was meh. Let it end. The story is complete.

I tire of the way American media has to milk every last penny out of every idea. Some of the greatest British TV was two seasons. Twelve episodes. We take The Office and manage to turn it into a decade of TV, most of it completely unnecessary. And now we're getting a 7th Star Wars movie?

I have an Imperial tattoo and I say keep milking it.

Did you have a problem with the EU they churned out? (I personally never got into it)
Do you have a problem with Star Wars video games?

Why not keep the story going? Why not keep going down the rabbit hole? There's nothing wrong with it at all.

Now that probably made me seem more critical or disdainful of loki then I actually am. The words might have been wrong but that does not mean the heart was. The films are good for cheap fun if you like that type of entertainment. The first movie was actually even half good. The 2nd movie was just pure Hollyshit. Those are the only 2 films I have actually seen. From what I have read the films did get nicer after the 2nd and 3rd shitshows they made.

The deal is they are not races in the 21st century they are actually plays in the 21st century.

since time immemorial, watching shit go fast with occasional explosions has been considered a highly enjoyable activity.

Fast and Furious is just modern-day chariot races ;) plus, they're pretty much the most racially diverse movies out there.

True. But I don't remember Ben Hur 7.

I ignore the EU for the most part. Not interested in reading books about every smuggler or bounty hunter in the galaxy.

The Dark Forces games were pretty good, and I liked the Battlefront games, but frankly those games would probably have been as good if they weren't Star Wars licensed games. There are plenty of Star Wars stinkers.

The reason not to keep going is because the story concluded The original trilogy gave us the conclusion. The prequels gave us the origin. Everything else will just be recycling plots.

"You thought the Empire was gone after the rebels destroyed not one but TWO Death Stars and the hundreds of thousands of troops on board, and the trillions of credits spent building them, but wait! More stormtroopers!"

Ep 7 and beyond will be like those trick birthday cake candles. Amusing for about two seconds until you realize you're just going to have to stamp the damn thing out.

Is there any doubt in your mind that the next string of Star Wars movies will reel in stupendous amounts of cash? Just look at the hundred-and-one reaction videos of the trailer. EP 1 - 3 should have been enough to stop the Star Wars franchise in its tracks, but people are still enthusiastically lining up for another serving.

Good point, Jar-Jar Binks alone was the most annoying character in any movie of any type yet as you mentioned, people want more. I think the appeal has a lot to do with SW originating in the '70's and now those people have kids and they want their kids to get into SW as well.

I agree with you 100%...but I want another Star Wars movie. And you do too, and you know it.

Why?

Because we all wanted a new Star Wars movie in 97. We were sold a bill of shit, but thought, you know, one off, it can get better, right? No, it didn't. We're all still waiting for a proper Star Wars movie and, at the very least, we have the proper cast, the proper people, the right story, whatever it is.

I'm not saying that trailer is the greatest thing--it could still end up being an extended version of that...so endless stupid action with far too many characters and nothing going on. That would suck, but I hold out hope.

Avoiding those same recycled plots sounds like a great argument in favor of not doing action movies, but a live action TV series with long running plot, and getting inspiration from the likes of Babylon 5 and BSG.
