Yeah, no. He put stretch goals. We collectively said that we wanted this game. You kids just amuse me.

"Couple of demos" --> Keep sliding those goal posts buddy. Are we going to change this to "A few" when the FPS comes out? How about when the exoverse comes out?

"Broken Promises" --> CR already addressed this, but pulling out this DS bull just amuses me.

"Coming storm of litigation" --> BWHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Keep dreaming DS, keep dreaming. Next time, at least have the lawyer sign the letter

Did you even read the article? Derek Smart is not behind today's news story. 9 employees gave independent accounts of a game that is not anywhere close to being finished, complete unprofessionalism, and a sick management culture. Chris Roberts responded by making up a conspiracy theory blaming smart and viciously attacking the journalist with transparent lies.

And, yes, when CIG implodes all of his promises will have been broken. Keep on drinking the kool aid, buddy.

Meh whatever, are the 9 still employed or did they work for the FPS group that were released?
We all know there is a possibility that kickstarter projects will either fail or not be what was expected its part of the risk its like gambling you shouldn't bet with sacred money and you shouldn't fund games with sacred money either.
The fame could come out and I may suck at it or simply not like it. Judging by my history buying games there is a large chance this could happen.
Anyone who has pledged that is not happy should follow the previously posted refund request process and stop allowing SC to occupy their thoughts.

Which 9 employees? What are their names? I'm sure they saved the emails proving the allegations - where are the emails?

You're putting a lot blind faith in clickbait journalism.

I work for a great company, and people get sent packing all the time, immediately jump on Glassdoor and spew the vitriol. Funny thing, I've known enough of them to know the real story.

Don't be so naive to believe anything you hear that supports your views. I don't know if it's true or not. Could CR be an asshole? I don't know, maybe he is. Could these employees be assholes? Maybe so.

The point of the article isn't to get at the truth, or it would include evidence. The point of the article is to get clicks.

At the end of CR's response, he invites the author to visit all of the studios and talk to the employees. Do you think the author will take him up on that and do a follow-up?

No, his response was to make up some conspiracy theory about Derek Smart being behind everything and then go on to personally & viciously attack the journalist who wrote the article. And this confirms one of the central arguments of the article's sources, that Roberts is a megalomaniac that attacks anyone who contradicts him in any way.

LOL. But this whole lolfest HAS been DS from the smart. To bring up "personal" and "vicious" attacks (which it wasn't, it was an interesting point though, makes you think about things like journalistic integrity and full disclosures...) when brought into the context of DS attacks, and the attacks on CR and Sandi in particular just proves you to be a hypocrite.

I don't have an agenda, crazy pants. I'm just lol-ing at a huge mess and the people too stupid to understand what's going on. There isn't some conspiracy out to get Roberts or to tank this game. Everything that has come out about CIG is consistent with a terribly managed company with no competent oversight.

LOL. No agenda. There's been an agenda instigated by the Troll for months now. It's not a conspiracy, he's been open about his agenda since he started this. Heck, it's been on this thread.

9 out of 300 employees went out of their way to respond to an OP Ed piece and tell the reporter a consistent story of mismanagement in the company. Many more people have been quitting and keeping their mouths shut. 9 whistleblowers out of a team of 300 is quite a lot, especially with someone as vindictive as Roberts has shown himself to be in his attacks on this journalist.

3%. I wish my industry had that turnover. I've never heard of anyone in my industry being upset because they couldn't deal with it. LOL, you guys are just grasping for straws.

Forbes. Because Forbes never uses clickbait. I mean, when I think gaming updates, the first thing I do is head over to Forbes.

But I mean, I'm sure this article has something of value, right? It's not just echoing, right? Right? LULZ.

Oh he is a ridiculous man this is for sure. But that doesnt mean he doesnt know what he is talking about.

But he doesn't. He's an abject failure. Every one of his games is a bug-ridden POS that really shouldn't be called a game. His sole purpose is to Troll. He's been doing it since FS, it's his MO.

Every. Single. Time. Keep bringing up DS, keep using his arguments. It just looks bad on you.

In the mean time, try harder guys. I mean, according to you, this AC I'm playing doesn't exist, the PTU modules I've done aren't real, and all the shiz coming up at CitizenCon is just an elaborate hoax.
It can't be done! - Several people
LOL

I mean, when it comes to an assessment on whether a project can/will succeed, the first person I'm going to ask is the guy who produced these beauties.

Yep, definitely going with the guy with a long history of unsubstantiated bull, empty legal threats, and definite mental instability.

Or, I can just remember that I and 987,521 others have backed this game.

Haters gonna hate. Trolls gonna troll. Try harder guys.

I've read the articles :) I've also read a good chunk of DS' bile.

9 people who did not fit a growing, multi-national game corp have something bad to say anonymously? I mean, I've NEVER heard of anyone badmouthing an employer. Nope...

So, about those other 300ish employees?

And, it's also nice when you admit you have nothing. First you claimed there were all of these "broken promises" (which you can't seem to explain for some reason...), now there "will be". Dude, keep failing.

Right now I've got a demo that's a helluva lot of fun to play, a company that has been more open and honest about its development cycle than any other I've seen, and a project that has single-handedly revitalized a genre that everyone said was dead. Meanwhile, you've got...um....what? Mmmmm mmm, love me some Ohhhh Yeaaaaah.

Do you understand that he tried to make the exact same game and admits he failed at it? He understands the reasons behind why this will fail because he learned from his failures.

You guys are all fun. Enjoy your game demo and your delusions. I wonder when you will accept the reality of this game's failure. When the FTC starts a formal investigation? When CIG folds? It will be amusing to watch.

Journalists generally dont name their sources when doing investigative journalism.

This journalist was invited to every CR studio and given the chance to talk to hundreds of other employees. Do you think he'll take it?

Do you really not understand how "employer retaliation" works? Are you truly stupid enough not to understand why current employees of Chris Roberts would be unwilling to criticize Chris Roberts on the record? The journalist is a woman, btw.

They wont blame cig though. cig is the victim and it would be the government DS and all of us who killed it.

I still had a glimmer of hope it would turn out well but this.. and seeing the faithful's reactions...

Like all religion, the faithful are truly blind. This is a very sad episode in gaming history.

Watch as RSI collapse in on itself as they run out of funds to support all the studios around the globe. Too ambitious is a common fault, and it's all the backers fault for not speaking out earlier to keep CR & the game grounded in reality of what is achievable.

Anyone who supports the practice of milking gamer's dreams with all these ridiculously expensive virtual ship designs should take a long hard look at themselves. It's a damn disgrace.

And all this time, I freaken backed the original KS and I want my updated Freelancer. I don't want all the fancy BS and fidelity or hollywood crap, these things do not make a good game, all they are is fluff that add to production delays and draw the focus away from content, gameplay, soul.

Do you not understand how "anonymity" works?

It's really quite simple. Go in with a list of questions and get a representative sample of the company...say 150 employees.

No names are needed, only a third party to provide assurance of the evidence.

Companies who care do this internally all the time...anonymously. The company I work for does it annually.
Who knows? If I was a journalist and had my flights paid for to go then I would do it. But what will that tell him?

Exactly how hundreds of other employees feel about the issues presented. What more could he possibly want?

I have had a moderate amount of fun with it thanks. Why would the Federal Communication Commission be involved with investigating a game developer, I don't think that's in it area of expertise assuming CR isn't building some kind of Wi-Fi router or wireless device.

Read the T&C's on those surveys sometime its assumed or implied that its private. I worked for ATT and I had my Boss show me survey results from my employees. I later looked thru the survey and at no point did it mention they were anonymous or private. Not everyone had access to the results but it was definitely there.
I don't want to say none are private or be an alarmist.

That depends entirely on the company. Ours provides an electronic form managed by a 3rd party with shared credentials for all employees, you're right though....pay close attention to T&C, especially with a big corp like the one mentioned.

In this case, the author could easily provide anonymity for the employees, and he doesn't have to provide the results to CIG.

The saddest part of this whole mess is how many people want this to fail. How terrible of a person do you have to be for that to be your desire?

1.) You just like to troll, it gets your jollies off.
2.) You have a vested interest as a failed developer to ensure everyone else fails so you don't feel like that much of an abject failure at life.
3.) This.

Or, you're one of the MORE THAN ONE MILLION people who want this project to succeed :)

I don't want it to fail. I want it to succeed, as a Freelancer successor. Not as this abomination. Do you know what Chris is building with this feature creep?

Battlecruiser 3000AD version 3.0

It's going to fail.

If he has so confident he would have given a proper channel for his KS backers to get their funds back. Because I would. I didn't sign up for this crap as it was sold in 2012.

Meant FTC...

The cr response email sounds so unhinged, I'm beginning to think he's on cocaine, lol.

He libels the author with weird allegations ...

And yet CR's offer still stands:

You’re invited to visit all of our four studios, meet the developers making the game and see how we’re building one of the most ambitious PC games first hand.
Now it's time for the author to put up or shut up. I won't hold my breathe.
