I hope they decide to make a game that doesnt have useless grind. Taking mission contracts and doing some trading in game is the game I would think and I want to bootstrap. Plus I will goon swarm all of you and your rich ships in simple vessels and pew pew you.

I have to say, define useless grind.

When you really get down to it, just about every game out there fits some definition of useless grind, whether it is dying 500 times in games until you know the enemies/levels, or killing the boss hoping to get the loot drop, or get the perfect speed run...

My hired NPCs/work buddies will pew pew you back from my Retaliator's turrets. 😉

Things that are not so grindy to me would be taking kill missions/trading stuff at different starbases/griefing other players for profit/ exploration for profit.

If they make it so I have to grind a certain crystal from a rock for 40 hours then they can die.

50 goons in starter ships will kill you. And we will hunt the most expensive ships in the game. 🙂 Unless of course this thing isnt actually mmo and just instances for its PU. Then its gonna suck anyhow.

Anyone else do the free Merlin test drive? I just tried it out, and it's a real zippy little ship. Pretty good deal for $20 standalone, even if it's not a heavy fighter. Almost makes me wish I had a Constellation Andromeda.

SC nom de guerre: JanusDarke

Ship list:

Retaliator (2x Cargo Modules, 1x Living Space Module +2x Standard Torpedo Modules)
315p
325a

Sold List:
Retaliator x2
Super Hornet x2
Constellation
M50
350R x2
Freelancer
Avenger
890 Jump

Suffice it to say I have made a substantial profit (albeit reduced by selling some to mates for mates rates) from Star Citizen. I have my 3 main roles taken care of with Fighter, Explorer & Utility ships.

It is pretty nifty, almost wish there was a module for the Tali allowing the use of one or I had kept the Connie. It's a great ship for pestering bigger ships into following you into a trap.

I did. It's a pretty fun little ship. Spent most of my time on the race course.

Luckily my Tali is insured.

My Carrack will usually be so far out basic goons won't find it.

Man this game is going to be fun.

I don't think you understand how horrible the average goon is and what lengths they will go through to ruin you in game 😉

I tend to take a very dim view of irritating people in online games, normally involving actively seeking them out and annoying them until they rage quit.

Be funny to find where their hangar is located and blockade the planet with some friends.

I soured on the Mustang after flying it some more. Ended up exchanging/upgrading it to a 325a. Easier to control, more durable and combat capable.

Melted my Ghost and got a Constellation Andromeda (I've taken to calling her "Rommie" 😀), which I've wanted for a while. Not a capital ship, but still a big-ass ship and hopefully will look incredible with the model reworking. I love the Merlin and wanted a multicrew ship with a turret to keep for the persistent universe. I am hoping they add some mining or salvage capability for it, because then I'd be set for what I want to do.

Agreed. I have enough buddies with Talis/Connies for us to fully crew a few of them or bring a whole fleet of a dozen or so of them with NPC crews. Griefers beware.

I can't imagine not having the Connie. It's an iconic SC ship since the beginning trailers for the game. I'm an explorer at heart so I have the Aquila. Most of the guys in our group went with Andromedas, with one Phoenix. The Taurus is much too new for any of us to have one.

If I didn't already have a Retaliator, I might pick up a Connie. But I figure one big ship is good enough.

Have a Freelancer DUR also for exploration.

My first pledge was for my Constellation, before all the wave 2+ ships. And bought one of the first Phoenix upgrades once available. I'm hoping that it doesn't get nerfed into the ground once AC 2.0 hits and all the people who saw "freighter" and not "space superiority" don't start screaming when it's knocking their hornet or avenger out of the sky.

I have a feeling multi crew ships are either going to be a flop (not likely considering this is where most of CIGs money came from)... or slightly OP. They need to make multi crew worth flying as opposed to everyone in their own ship. That's going to be hard to balance.

it's crazy how much some of you have spent on this game already O_O

Should be worth it. The only thing CR ever did that sucked was the Wing Commander movie.

Besides that, I've been in a big crowd sourcing mood this year. CHIP, Bill Nye documentary, Exploding Kittens, Neil Armstrong space suit, etc. Star Citizen is just another way to bring something awesome into the world. If it flops, I move on.

Though, I encourage anyone that would care if they never saw anything in return for their dollar to stay away until it's done.

I've spent nothing on the game overall. I'm one of the original backers and I bought a bunch of LTI ships. Sold off a lot covering all my costs (and made a profit). Left myself with LTI Retaliator, LTI Freelancer DUR, and LTI Aurora (to start out on and learn). 🙂

Wait - you bought for real $$$ and sold for real $$$?

Y'all know there is ZERO seller protection for digital items on eBay right?

Even so, my interest has been piqued.

Point remains though, whoever buys that shit for $550 is crazy.
