That's the traditional big publisher method, I love that SC is not like that. We get so much transparency, you actually get so much insider info and that's great to have. For those who actually care about the development of the game (and likely pledged money), it's very rewarding stuff.

If someone is only interested in playing on launch, then they can go bury their head in the sand (aka just don't read anything about the dev process) and enjoy it when it comes out.

I think we get too much transparency. I think they should scale it back.

Remember PAX East in early March and the (now) infamous quote from CR: "The FPS module will be released Tuesday"?

That single statement caused tens of thousands of needless, useless posts in the CIG forums and brought the whiners and complainers out of the woodwork as Tuesday after Tuesday has passed.

I'm fine with the deep dives and the before and after FPS stuff was cool. But don't tell us FPS will be SC Alpha 1.2. Don't tell us that will be followed by Social Module. Don't tell us multiplayer is 2.0. Don't tell us SQ 42 is fall of 2015 or PU is 2016. No development roadmaps or timelines.

It's just not worth the explosion of stupidity and impatience in the forums when those things don't happen (or happen within alluded to timeframes).

Looks like a pretty cool ship. It kinda reminds me of a B-wing from SW. I think I'll hold off for now though.

I still can't figure out the deal on the Reliant's rotating cockpit. What's that all about? Does it have actual functionality, or is it just 'cool' factor?

Well the most obvious function is the field of view (since the cockpit has a larger field of view along the axis of the wing).

The biggest drawback I see with the Reliant itself is that it's going to arguably have a much bigger target surface due to its design. Not sure if I'd like flying a giant dartboard very much.

I see another expensive ship design was just launched. The Genesis starliner. I'm still waiting on my AMX-1 repair droid.

I don't get the purpose of the liner ship. Why would a player own one? I can't imagine completely relying on cruise ships to take players places, especially huge numbers of them. Maybe it will be like going to kurnack on ships like EQ1, seems like a stretch I don't think many people will be patient to talk a 30 minute starship ride to a new area. Maybe they'll be gambling locations?
Thoughts?

That or transporting all your fps troops for a big operation to the general operating staging zone, who then board the assault ships that are going to be used for the attack. This removes the need for all those fps players from needing to have a ship and fly it to the area...

Could you imagine if somebody caught wind of that and took those ships out - - 40+ people at a time? 😉

I think if I was flying that vessel, I'd probably hire some wingmen to hang back and jump in if needed.

Genesis isn't really a combat ship (at least not until we see any potential combat variants). Transporting combat troops in that thing is akin to assaulting a beach with a Carnival cruise ship. If you need to get troops into some sort of hot zone I'd think you'd want to use something like the Redeemer. Less capacity but far more likely to survive.

Can you imagine wanting to play a fps and having to sit in some dorks cruise ship for 40 minutes waiting to get to the fps game?

I'm expecting heavy NPC usage in the game. For example.... where am I going to find friends or players to man my Gemini Fuel Ship... so I can spearhead deep space travel with my Carrack?

Didn't anyone read the part of my post where I said:

I put the important parts in bold. I didn't say to use the ship for the assaults. I said they could be used to STAGE the assault, i.e. get everyone where they need to be from where the attack will happen from.

Ugh, sorry man. I had just come from the SC forums where "ZOMG Troop Transport" posts were rampant.

Yeah, good use by larger Orgs for sure.

this is my favorite star citizen post:

Commander Cain seems to be romanticizing quite a bit. I'll bet he is disappointed when its released.
Funny how some games attract rabid fans that expect a life changing experience from a game. I remember some people wanting to be able to enslave players in Mortal Online I kept thinking who is going to pay $15 per month and only be able to play when your slaver lets you out of his prison? Why would you even speculate such a complex code would be in the game to allow anything you can imagine to be in the game?

I have good memories of long boat trips in EQ1 however that was a different time. Could be fun if they had little mini gambling games built in it.

What's the status on this game? I guess there are 'modules' that you can do? Nothing that will carry over into the release I'm guessing?....

What's the best way to get your foot in the door for this game? Buy a ship I guess gets you the game at release? Is there a good general ship?

Got a 4 day weekend with the wife and kids out of town so plan to game it up, I re-installed Elite Dangerous but I might give this one a shot since I hooked up the HOTAS and what not.
