I haven't been keeping up with the development, but this insurance thing seems like it could get expensive. I'm worried about getting micro-transaction to death in game.

Pretty sure you'll be able to keep up with insurance through in-game means.

Also, there are/have been options to pick up "permanent" insurance. I know I have permanent insurance on my ship already and won't have to spend another dime on it. Now if I purchase a different ship, that's another story.

After reading, apparently I'm covered for my initial ship with LTI.

I hope the insurance on other ships purchased is not something I'd have spend 10-20 hours of week farming for coins to cover either.

Actually now that you mention it, I believe everybody gets LTI on the basic ship (Aurora?). It was one of the stretchy stretch goals when they hit some absurd multimillion dollar mark.

Simply put, you will never be without a ship in the game at the very least.

it's something you'ld pay for with in-game credits, not real money. the vast majority of credits spent in the game will be on ships and upgrades. insurance is optional (although any reasonable person should want it), but it's not going to define the game. it's like the cost of landing, repairs, refueling...relatively minor transactions. it's really not as big a deal as people seem to think it is.

alright ladies, the new website is almost ready to be fired up. be sure to come around tomorrow at 12pm edt for a new wingman's hangar, and the kick-off of cig's second 24-hour live stream! there should be a lot of cool stuff to see; don't miss it!

additional info: wingman's hangar will come up on the static webpage tomorrow at the usual time, and then the 24-hour stream will start after (and the new website will go live). all of the video streams will be embedded on the website, so you won't have to look for them all on twitch.

 Do not quite understand shelling out money for all the pre game ship upgrades, etc. for single player...I just want to buy the game and play it when it comes out. Please explain.

you are funding the development of the game. you don't have to pay for anything more than the $30 package if you aren't interested in the alpha or beta. the ships you get are for the multiplayer, not the single player. back this week if you're at all interested in the game, you get lower prices and some nice perks. wingman's hangar is starting now, if you can watch it i suggest you do so!

This game wouldn't be coming out without the help of fans who pledged money to make it happen. If we all just waited for something to come out, it never would have. :)

I pledged early on before the kickstarter, but somehow they lost my account between last year and the previous website update. There was no such user or email registered when I tried to log in last week. Thankfully, I had detailed records and after a few days working with support they tracked down my original order and got a working account set up for me. Now just a few days later, I've migrated to the latest new system (third one so far).

If you pledged early and haven't checked in lately, be sure log in, migrate and make sure your account hasn't fallen through the cracks like mine had.

Thanks for the heads up. I had to go migrate my account. Luckily it didn't get lost.

One of my brothers' friends is currently having this exact issue, he's trying to sort it out with customer service.

On a side note:
HOLY COW @ how fast the "gimped" Idris Corvettes sold out. 170 @ $1250ea in about 15mins.

Also, really digging how the Starfarer Tanker concept is shaping up. Thumbs up to MISC Design.

Just a heads up:

Today is the last day to lock in Veteran Status for Life Time Insurance as a new backer for purchases through Nov. 26. If you plan on gifting a pack to someone with LTI, note under the new site they will not get any of the Veteran rewards(LTI for additional purchases through Nov 26th, extra credits, repair bot, free starter hanger, etc) unless they at least buy something on their end after receiving the gift before midnight PST tonight. Even a $5 skin will work.

Also the following ships will no longer be available for purchase before the game's release after today:
RSI Aurora LX
Origin M50
Origin 350R
MISC Starfarer
Anvil Gladiator
Aegis Retaliator
Drake Caterpillar

Yeah, mine got lost. Emailed support, but they have yet to get back to me.
