Let us know how well the X-55 Rhino works out, especially in SC (man we need a different acronym... it is almost as bad as MW where so many people use it for CoD : Modern Warfare, and not the original MechWarrior acronym that it had been for years before... now SC (StarCraft, and Star Citizen)...)

This too. It will be nuts. My only concern would be the controls, wouldn't be able to rely on sight to see what to do. Will require very precise muscle memory or a highly customized control scheme.

I want to pair it with voice commands (mapped to keystrokes)

Won't do you any favors in a dogfight. The hand is faster and more reliable than the vocal cords.

anything crucial enough to need doing in a dogfight can be mapped to a joystick button. but for random other stuff, voice commands could be cool.

of course i'd look like a total idiot while playing.

Which means 2 months in Chris Roberts 'time'. I wish CIG would stop predicting Alpha release dates... getting old. Just make it happen... test it with a few thousand Pre-Alpha players... then launch it to remaining Alpha testers. Not a hard Alpha launch strategy *rolls eyes*

Could someone please explain what the delayed commander module is? I need to upgrade my graphics card and money is currently tight.

It's a limited pre-alpha showcasing the flight and dogfight mechanics of a limited number of single/two-person (F7-C) craft. It contains both an AI mode (Vanduul swarm "horde" mode featuring waves of progressively harder/numerically superior enemies) as well as PvP to be phased in based on citizenship number. It utilizes the latest version of Cryengine featuring PBR and will likely be very buggy and will definitely be unoptimized.

Oh look, this game STILL doesn't have the dog fighting module out yet.

This game has stupid-hype and millions of dollars invested with nothing to show for it.

I think they just robbed a bunch of gullible gamers. This game will be a colossal joke.

Because the SC Arena Commander *is* most of the entire Elite game?
Not knocking Elite, looks pretty fun. But the games aren't even in the same ballpark when it comes to scope.

Am I happy about the delay? Nope. But it's not the first game to be delayed.. Multiple times. Time will tell who backed the better horse.

Sixty million and two years of development and NOTHING to show for it --well, nothing more than a buggy bay module.

Look at Elite. Almost the same amount of time. Far less money. They're almost done.

Yes, because clearly Star Citizen and Elite are on the exact same scale, with the exact same objectives. One clearly isn't more massive, detailed or ambitious than the other. It's a perfect comparison!!! It's like criticizing the construction delays of an Aircraft Carrier because someone's just about to finish a destroyer.

I'm sorry Star Citizen doesn't suit your ADD, but nothing happening right now was unexpected. Games I've backed have had year+ long delays and have still come through; and Star Citizen is the most ambitious game I've ever backed.

In any case, you've already admitted that you stopped paying attention to RSI updates a long time ago (we get multiple hours of video updates per week now). I don't really know what you're doing here other than jacking off. You have no basis for your opinion, and you sound like a moron.

What, except for the large number of real people doing real work, the actual progress shown, and playable demos in Boston? They're totally fleecing us dude.

OR, it's a giant ass game with almost completely transparent development and most gamers still know nothing outside of the standard dev model (i.e. you don't get the hype train and footage until the last 6-12 months of development).

Heads up, it's a 2016/2017 release. You've got some waiting.

As for me, I've plopped some money down, but I'm not a complete ignorant and thought I was making an actual equity investment, nor do I have any sense of delusional self-entitlement that makes me froth at the mouth when I'm told there's a delay.

I'm an E: D backer. They're nowhere near close to the same level in terms of either gameplay or graphical fidelity. They won't have the same development cycle. Apples to five-course dinner comparison.

All of this.

Also LOL at the people who are raging over pre-alpha material. If these people were actual publishers they would be worse than EA lol.

Not you IS but someone mentioned $60+ million, as of today it's $44.3 million.

Can someone link me a HD gameplay of Elite Dangerous? The graphics almost seem 'cartoonish' compared to the modified CryENGINE 3+ in Star Citizen.

Also... does Elite Dangerous have a 'dedicated' Solo campaign like Star Citizen's Squadron 42?

Will Elite Dangerous allow you to board Player/NPC ships (land on planets too)... engage them in a 'First Person Shooter' and then possibly capture that ship?

I'm reviewing Elite Dangerous now but I'm not getting that sense of wonder or excitement about the game. I'm glad it's being made for at least 2 reasons.

A) Glad the Space Sim Genre is BACK with a vengeance !
b) Star Citizen competition is always good.
C) I'm sure some ideas/gameplay scenarios will be ported into Star Citizen

I could use less but 15 is a fine number to be excited about Star Citizen.

Seeing that the dogfighting alpha is almost released, I want to get access to that module. What would be the cheapest package that lets me play the whole game on release as well as have beta access and access to the dogfighting alpha?

$25 is the cheapest package (Aurora) + the $5 Arena Commander Module Pass.

I think it actually shows that in your SC profile. Which package did you buy?

Colonel - LTI looks like it's the same as the earlier alpha access so i'm set:

Please note that this badge purchase is not necessary if you already own a Star Citizen package which includes alpha access. The Arena Commander badge will grant access to the module immediately after it has been made available to alpha backers.
