STALKER 2 will be multiplatform

as long as they don't mess with the ui and controls for the pc then it could turn out good but i see them making it to fit controllers like most other devs

I have zero problems with devs going multiplatform (I mean...companies are out to make money, and the money is with the consoles) so long as they don't forget their roots.

However, most devs these days are becoming lazy and develop console first and port it to the pc,
 
They are going to have a tough time going Multi-platform. Console gamers have much higher standards in the quality control of their games. No one buying it for 360/PS3 are going to wait 2 years after release for it to be playable.
 
It's an obvious move, here is hoping they've refined their build process and are able to make a solid game from launch.
 
Probably means they'll get rid of a lot of extraneous items, simplify inventory/ammo management, and change the way guns pick up, etc.

If they do something like Fallout 3, but less cartoony, I wouldn't be too upset.
 
Stalker has run its course. I played CLEAR SKY and it was not in the same ballpark as SOC. I imagine COP is a similar disappointment. I doubt Stalker 2 will be much an improvement given the trend.
 
I have no issue with games being multi-platform as long as all platforms get the attention they deserve, and aren't just an afterthought. There are good and bad examples of both. Good example: Mass Effect 2 is out on both Xbox 360 and PC. When you play the PC version it doesn't feel like a shitty port. Feels like it was build from the ground up with the PC in mind. Likewise Blur was a shitty port. The controls, and menus for the PC were a complete afterthought, and the graphics were washed out where they could have been improved over the console versions. It's all up to how much care the developer puts into it.

Mass Effect 2? Pardon?

You can't scroll within textboxes - you have to wait patiently because consoles don't have mouse wheels. You can't even left-click to confirm menu items, you need to hit enter. The fact that all the menus are designed to be readable from 10 ft. away isn't a giveaway?

Sorry dude, the GUI is a pretty damn blatant port of a console setup.

OK so yes it does still have some consolitis I will admit, but it's not nearly as bad as some games I've played. Overall it's a very good experience on PC.
 
You're right, it's not too bad. Especially when compared to something as horrible as Lost Planet: Condition Zero. Going to the key options actually brings up a picture of an Xbox controller, and you have to fucking guess what key corresponds to L-trigger.

Bastards.

Yes I remember that... part of the reason I never really started playing.
 
imho...North America, and to some extent western Europeans and our glut of XBOX360's is not who GSC sees as thier main customers. If you spend any time on the GSC forums you will quickly see that Eastern Europe is where it is at for them. That is who they identify with and who they make their games for and if we western types like them, great! That region of the world is filled with PC's, not consoles and I'm talking diehard, hardcore PC gamers. I wish some of you could have seen the cavalier attitude they took to even releasing COP in the U.S. If I remember correctly, they hadn't even started the english localization when they released in Russia, Ukraine and surrounding area. Certain people/moderators on the GSC forums very familiar with GSC's internal workings were quick to smack down U.S. customers who complained about getting the game so late by letting them know that we were a mere drop in the bucket as far as where the bulk of the sales of the Stalker series were concerned and to shut up and be glad we were getting it at all.
Probably a little of that was happiness in telling the American's they weren't as important as they thought they were but the message was clear.

I fully, fully expect that this is a PC game that will be ported to the 360 so they can see what the market holds for them.

I'm thinking Metro 2033ish type deal. Way better on the PC than the console and, even with piracy, I bet it sold better on the PC globally.

I note that the visibility, in itself, is strictly a good thing. The (implied) bad thing is that there isn't more text visible. The ultimate customer-friendliness in this case would be to offer a high-visibility UI and a high-efficiency UI and let the player choose according to whether they are playing at a desk or from a sofa.
(But if they aren't going to do that, then of course a PC game should come with the high-efficiency UI.)
