Stafford house explosion.

About 8 years ago a house exploded in Belleville, IL for the same apparent reason. Natural gas built up in home. The case in belleville was attempted murder/suicide though.

The house exploded around 4am and blew out my bedroom window. The house was about 4 blocks away. It ruined the closest 4 houses (I think 6 in total were torn down), and the only person who died was the person trying to kill everyone.

From four blocks away, we were picking up insulation in our yard.

Saw this on the news this morning. Crazy shit.... luckily the house was under renovation and no one was inside. They would have went for a hell of a ride. Never trust a "funny smell" .....

QFT I have a 13 y.o. boy. I imagine his smells are only going to get worse.

This is why I rent solid concrete apartments. I never ever wanted to own a house. Random explosions, radon gas, retiling the roof. Bah!

Maybe you live in an apartment with poured walls. I don't know. I think that's fairly uncommon and they are more likely to be block or preformed. I'm not 100% sure poured walls would withstand that explosion, but I'm pretty sure pre-formed wouldn't, and I'm 100% sure block wouldn't.

i wonder what cam they have. even my stupid $80 dashcam is a lot clearer than this.

Police camera equipment, like most government-bought equipment, is often high priced ("for durability in the field" they say) lower-quality and ancient tech.

As if concrete won't explode? It will actually be worst, as everything will be contained and continue to bounce around.

And radon gas has NOTHING to do with it (and it does seep THRU concrete)

I'm also not sure where you can find a "solid concrete" building, most have wooden reinforcement/sheetrock etc anyways.

that looked surreal, those full sheets of plywood coming down and those other smaller pieces of what had to be paper just hanging there.

I call it "exploit our tax money in the name of profitable companies"

🙂

Mmmhmmm. I hate the government contract game. It's despicable. Wasteful spending on sub-par products, or simply overpaying by a factor of 10-to-1 has put us in a nasty mess. Or they simply accept the lowest bidder, and end up with a terrible product or service.

That's what happens when no one watches/oversees decision makers and they run wild.

Add "legal corruption" aka lobbying and you end up with what we have.

🙂

People that do the worst crimes that effects the most people are the ones that not only get away but not even receive a slap on the wrist.

There is absolutely 0 accountability or consequences, why should those people even change?

Look at Iraq, probably the biggest robbery in the history of the world. Government took BILLIONS of dollars America didn't even have (our grand kids money) and handed it right to Military sector/Weapons/defense contractors and others.

We accomplished nothing (actually made things worse)......and the corps are laughing all the way to the bank.

"in the name of war and freedom".....and America actually believe it!!! And many still do!!!

🙂

Extracting money from government/people in the name of <insert some made up BS> is the name of the game.

But hey, our presidents have warned us about it and I'm also pretty sure we just accepted it as without it, our economy would be in shambles. America needs war/military, to sustain it's economy.

Yes they put that rotten egg smell with natural gas on purpose because it is odorless otherwise. Gas detectors are few and far between unfortunately. Many reviews say they don't even work accurately. If it's happening in the basement while you're on the 2nd floor sleeping, that's a problem.

had a house blow up in my hometown back in the 80's about 4 or 5 block from my house. killed 3 people. if I remember correctly, it was due to running the gas line either in or next to sewer line and the gas line got punctured when the sewer line was being cleaned.
