I'm headed to your city to watch my team play hoops in the NCAA Tournament next weekend.....I need some ideas of things to do, places to see, and of course, night clubs and bars that are cool to go to.

Thanks....

how are you so positive we'll end up in the midwest bracket?

Anyway, you're a lucky bastard... I can't get away next weekend, though I am planning to see a couple Big 12 tourney games.

Well, we are definately going to be a #1 seed. From every report I've read, they are trying to keep all of the #1's close to home to draw people in the seats. Sending KU to St. Louis seems like a no brainer. I have read this and seen this about 10 different times/ places so we went ahead and ordered tix. Heck, if they don't, I have 2 tix for sale...heh. Or EBay. I didn't want to wait until this Sunday to find out since all of the hotels and tickets might be gone by then....

ah, the Loo. places to not miss: Blueberry Hill (Chuck Berry may be playing), the Zoo (if the weather is nice), the Landing (if you wanna get drunk), the Brewery (because we're definitely a Bud town), oh, almost forgot, you have to have an Imo's pizza. trust me on that one. plus, don't forget, plenty of Casino's!!!

A note on Imo's and other St. Louis style thin-crust pizza. If you're from the area you may like it. If not, it will most likely be somewhat vile to you (flashing back to Cecil Whitakers).

This from a NY pizza snob, though.

From the now defunct Low Bullsht guide to St. Louis web page.
Speaking of Italian food, I need to mention that classic pseudo-Italian food, pizza, because if you're not from here, you won't believe the crap that St. Louisans eat. St. Louis Style pizza is usually called by its many detractors "Velveeta on a cracker." I think that's unfair to both Velveeta and to crackers.

Honestly though, there are good Italian eats to be had on "the Hill". Pretty cheap and pretty good. I like Cunetto's. Favazza's was decent as well.

For after-game burgers and a brew, try to find a place called O'Connells. Best burgers I've ever had. I think its at the entrance to the hill.

Otherwise? The arch should be done once, the zoo is free, and Forest Park is a big park. And "the Loop" is like 3 blocks of Greenich Village transplanted into St. Louis. I think thats where Blueberry Hill is. And thats right near where I lived for a couple of years!

And out of respect to living in the area for a couple of years...

M-I-Z!

Just go down to 'The Landing.'

Or over to Alton to any number of great night spots.

Belleville has the 3rd longest main street in the US and more than it's compliment of bars.

St. Louis International Raceway...

The Arch and it's museum

The Old Court House

Grant's Farm

The St. Louis Zoo

All can be accessed by Metro Link Light Rail....
