I just had one of those errors and this was the address returned upon pinging forums.anandtech.com: 23.217.200.19

About a minute later, I returned to the site and there was no error and the pinged IP address was: 23.217.200.27

Ack, this is killing me. I've forwarded this on up to our network admin, who will not be happy about it. Akamai's got some answering to do.

This site can’t provide a secure connection
forums.anandtech.com uses an unsupported protocol.

ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH
Unsupported protocol

The client and server don't support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite.

----

Happy to troubleshoot if there is anything I can provide.
Even the spammers are having problems :D

Checking in on this thread. Is anybody still experiencing this issue, even on a sporadic basis?

I still keep getting this ERR_SSL_Protocol_Error multiple times a day on Chrome. I can't get a ping response from e12200.e12.akamaiedge.net (174.76.226.162 or 174.76.226.148) as the ping requests just keep timing out. Then ~15 minutes later the forums work again.

edit-
I've noticed lately that there is always mixed content on the forums even if there aren't any pictures on the page from an outside source. The lock icon in the URL bar is always yellow, never green.
Are the avatars not on an https URL?
