I fed the beast? Oh teh NOES~! D:

I remember when I got my first SSDs with games installed. Three Intel 40GB in RAID0 (well, cheaper Kingston models flashed with Intel firmware). I decided to find out what would happen in L4D2. First level in, I think I nearly made it to the safe room. My teammates were not amused. :D

haha zap that happen to me already and enough people yelled at me that I just stick around outside the safe room until everyone has joined :p

So what do we have here? Ever since I got the SSD I have been getting all kinds of problems. Wasted 500 man hours. Lost my sleep time. Updated to the latest motherboard bios for nothing. Took out my sound card. Wasted my MONEY.

Thats why it is usually a good idea to inform one self before buying something and in why a more expesnive part ist still the better choice. Just asking on these forums would have prevented you buying on OCZ drive an probably avoiding all of these issues. You bought the most flakey controller from the worst ssd vendor. Crucial m4 or Smasung 830/840 would have been a much better choice.

I'm not going into how or what, but since pretty much everybody bypassed this little blurb of the OP's:

System memory is 4GB.

That's not going to help things any either. But then again, he is using XP. *shrug*

Reasons for going with an SSD imho:
Noise, power consumption, overall speed, less need for additional points of failure (raid), etc.

How else can one afford a $60k power cord? $40-200 for a new OS, $25 for RAM, $30-50 for a better SSD...it adds up.

Maybe a $10K SATA cable would net him better performance from the SSD. :)

You guys making fun of me now huh? D:

Exactly... I have to save up, and spend less on other things I need. I wear the same underwear and socks that are 10 years old. I don't buy things like paper towel, garbage bags, dishwasher soap, etc etc. You can get by without using them. I take shower once a week, to save water. Minimize use of heater / air conditioner at home. So I can spend large on cables. it's called money mangement.

da hell...

is the cable made out of 24k gold with a silver core? :p
No, those are cheap. My cables have high purity Quartz crystals, which is even more expensive than diamonds. Silver? Gold? Get da hell outta here... :D

OK OK GUYS, let's stop talking about cables. You are going OT. This is about SSD's...

Luckily, my system is running dandy. No hiccups like system hang when booting so far. It seemed to happen when messing with partitions and going from Server 2003 to Win 7. Don't know. Maybe just coincidence.

Somebody whined about I am not having enough system memory? 4GB is plenty. I had 512MB~ 1GB RAM with server 2003 and was running blazing fast for everything I do.

Well, usually in the winter. Sometimes I can go on for two weeks. In summer, if I sweat, I try to take it 3 times a week. The reason for that is I don't want that bad smell imbed on my car seats.

If I take shower everyday the water bill go high.

Guys, I think I am some-what happy with my OCZ SSD. I decided to use it sorely for Windows drive and use the hard drive (I have WD Red NAS drive) as storage and video / audio playback.

I played some 1080i MPEG2 high def files without a single hiccup..... So I'm happy. :)

You can reduce the amount of water used by rinsing for a minute, turning off water, soaping up, then rinsing off.

Want to go to extremes? Bathe out of a bucket. Seriously! I've vacationed in, ahem, less developed places, and I had to bathe using cold water out of a bucket. I can get that fresh feeling without hitting double digit gallons. :D Use some handheld container to scoop up water to dowse yourself. Soap up, then dowse with water until soap is all gone. Easy!

 That's the way everyone else uses their SSD. OS/software on SSD. Compressed media on HDD.

lol this thead took an interesting turn. I actually missed the part about the audio cables. So there are still people that buy into that...

Instead of skipping showering you could gather the rain water from the roof and use that for showering. Your you could try to find a girlfriend and shower at her place...but I think the finding part could be a probably with the current "aura" surrounding you. :D

Guys its not how many MB per second. BUT the hard drive is movable device and it picks up files slow,, slow boots up,, slow program launch,,,,,, Everything is instant once you put in SSD. Best upgrade I ever made in my life.

Also booting up doesnt matter if its 280mbps or 6G Overall you will not see difference from a 280 to 500+ seq read. Bunch of files get loaded at once, while the hard drive has to go fetch the file from the platter.

My old OS used to boot up in 4 minutes,, cuz I busted readyboot ......... it was takin 4 solid minutes to boot up to winblow7 .... then I got SSD,, put image on it,,,,,, and baam suddenly Im booting up in 18 seconds. thx gl

I wash my hair twice a week though, sometimes.

Another reason why I can't take shower every day. It takes away my time for listening to music and other entertainment stuff. There is not much time left when you get home from work. Hell.. my cat washes herself much more often than I. She cleans herself everyday it's hilarious....

There is no way in hell I'm taking shower out of cold water bucket. That's like suicide.

I asked my co-worker to see he smells anything from my body. He got close to me and started sniffing.. He told me he didn't smell anything. It turns out my body doesn't give off bad odor.. This is a huge plus to me.

I've been having weird issues / hiccups from my Windows 7 64bit OS. If I don't get my problems ironed out I may have to go back to Server 2003, and that means the SSD performance issue will come back with stuttering... I may have to pickup another OCZ Vertex 2 SSD and run it as raid0 just to keep up with my raptor HDD's performance in real world apps.

Looks like I made a bad start by going with SSD in the first place. At least for my hardware....

Run AS SSD Benchmark then tell me does everything on the top left say ok? or do you have anything that says misaligned?

Take a screenshot please and let me know, I have an easy fix for you. Here is a screen shot of the results of my LiteON LAT-256MS drive with IRST driver 11.7.0.1013:

How can it be that your "el cheapo" SSD is faster then my PCIe OCZ Revodrive 3?

I was going to say your RevoDrive 3 is underperforming, but looking online at reviews, it looks like your score is in-line with the scores in those reviews.
