I was reading Intel specifications for both SSDs.

http://www.intel.com/content/dam/su...ntel_SSD_730_Series_Product_specification.pdf

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/solid-state-drives/ssd-dc-s3510-spec.html

The 730 has 2s boot time and the s3510s has a 5s boot time.
(In the PDF its written: Power on to ready , page 9)

That is a lot of difference. What would explain that?

I am not worried about these 3s but if the boot time is so different ,
other activities may differ a lot too (I am talking about desktop usage, not server ).

thx in advance.

I'd wager it goes through a long(er) and thorough self-test procedure during startup, to ensure data integrity and all that enterprise-grade stuff.

It makes sense.
But after the Windows is ready, do you think that there would
be much difference in performance?

I'm not certain why you're cross shopping them. The 730 was one of Intel's Consumer SSDs, with re-hashed firmware from the S3500 series to focus on consumer workloads. The S3510 is an entry level Enterprise Drive with firmware designed for Enterprise workloads. That's why the boot time is different (as @Valantar noted, there is more rigorous self-testing and validation in the Enterprise drives).

Even if all things were the same, the S3510 is going to be configured for higher performance under higher queue depths that enterprise workloads see, while consumer drives will be geared towards high performance at lower queue depths. The S3510 is a newer design as well. You should be able to find reviews of each and make a more solid determination that way.
