Yep you could have saved 5 grand, but then you'd be in a Neon.

stock for stock an srt-4 neon version won't take a gto but they are so easily moddable that a little money goes a long way. biggest issue is obviously traction. oh and when you get beat by a "cheaper" car, do you roll down your window next to them and say well hey at least i don't have a civic or a neon or something like that? kinda stupid if you ask me. if you get beat, you get beat.

The SRT4 is heavily underrated. Actual power figures are at 215-225whp and 220-240wtq. FWD also has less drivetrain loss, but all that shouldn't change the outcome.

Oh and to the OP, me and my friend are restoring a 64 rambler. Just throwing that out there.

Do you like manual roll-down rear windows?

Anybody ever take their car to the drag strip? I'm just curious about what I would need to do it. I'm pretty sure I've read they require you to wear a helmet. And if you go faster than 13 seconds you need a roll cage too maybe. Probably cost a good chunk of change too.

From a roll a Stock SRT4 will give a GTO a run for it's money no problem, has nothing to do with the driver.

If you run to the GTO's 160mph limiter, no, they wont. Ask me how I know.
Also, if you want to go to the track, all you'll need is a helmet. Roll cages are for 11.49 or faster in a coupe IIRC.

Nice! Is it an American, Classic or an Ambassador? Straight six 232?

American with just a simple 232. We wanna take it to some car shows and such. Don't want to make it a screamer or anything. Just a cruiser. It's been a really slow project. We've been working on it for years.
