Squeaking sounds from 2001 Honda Accord 2door

Been having a very annoying metal sqeaking problem in the front of the car. Seems to increase in sound as the car goes faster and sound syncs with tire roation. Sound goes away when little to alot of brake is applied but comes back when no brake is applied. Wether the steering is straight or turned a little bit the sound comes out. When a big turn is made sound seems to not be there.

Things that have been replaced are, brake pads and rotor. Odd thing is when the car is raised up by the mechanic and wheels are turned no sound comes out. Only when the entire car is on the ground does the sound come out. Pretty stumped as to what the problem is. One time I brought it back from the dealer the squeaking sound was very loud, took it to the mechanic the next day, he lifted the entire car , checked through some stuff, brought it back down and the sound went away. Slowly the sounds came back.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? What else could be touching the rotor besides the brakes? Was thinking something to do with the suspension but dunno how that could relate to noise going away with very little braking. Oh yea transmission has also been replaced twice, but dont think that could be related. Maybe changing the shocks would help? Need some advice or tips from anyone pleasee.

Well this car has been pretty much a lemon from the start, going through 3 transmissions total. All under warranty though. Hrmm if its wheel bearings, how can it be affected with the braking system? Ive been going out of my mind with that annoying noise. Ill see if I can get the bearings checked out, thanks thomsbrain

i don't have the same problem but my car is making a clik click noise when driving. it's the speedometer cable. no biggy since my car is an 86

Well after reading through google and some forums, it looks like it could be something with the bushings, which i have no idea what they do, or could likely be something with the suspension. I remember getting out of the car today and it decided to squeak at me right when i got up. Also sometimes notice a squeaky like door sound when getting into the car. Hopefully not too big of a problem that causes my wheels to fly off when driving on the freeway.

I have a 2K accord coupe, I had some metal sounds, but that was from the warning sounds of a brake pad fading away

Nope, been through like 3 sets of different brake pads, and lately just changed out the rotors too and problem still persists =( Looking more like some kind of suspension problem, though i dunno why slight braking would make the noise stop

don't forget the hardware kits behind the brake pads. they seem 'optional' to alot of mechanics, but on my i30 they are a must or I hear them scrape.

you went through 3 brakepads already ?

how many miles are on the car ?

that seems awfully high for a 2001 ?

I have an 02 Lex and I haven't even changed the Brake Pads on it yet.
I live in a very high stop and go traffic area.

Had the same exact problem with my Accord; remedied by installing new ball joints. It shouldn't cost you an arm & a leg, as a matter of fact, you should be able to pick it up for $20 or less.

More Info.

Though, I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself (as it is a PITA).

OP, I know exactly what you mean by "very annoying metal sqeaking problem in the front of the car". I have a 1993 Accord which has been plagued by this very problem for about 6-7 years now.

I've been to several places to have it checked out, and so far I've been told 'everything checks out ok'. I've had my front right axle replaced, brakes, rotors, struts and lower control arm, but the squeaking persists. About a year ago I just gave up, as the car still runs perfectly, no problems except for the squeak.

Good luck finding a resolution for this, I'll be watching this thread. 🙂

Well 3 sets of pads that is. On my 3rd set. First set were OEM's, 2nd I installed, 3rd is mechanic's install. Currently running on 3rd set. Rotors were changed to see if problem still occured. Same shiet. Not really worn out but they were changed anyways. Got only about 64k miles on it.

Well today its raining and do not notice any squeaking at all, its very mysterious as to what the problem is because it is non persistant and decides to squeak when it wants to. There is always a stretch of road I drive that squeaks when I am coming home, but when I am driving to a location on the same road does not make the squeaks.

Thanks for the tip Nikamichi, I will see if I can get the ball joints replaced on both sides on the front of the car and see if I still have squeaky syndrome from the car.

Think its kinda late for lemon action. Oh yea, supposedly the wishbone suspension in the rear was broke too, that was about 2 years ago, dealer fixed and repaired.

possibilities include the audible inicators, or in some instances cv joints and axles can make noise asociated with brake noise although that is very uncommon.
