I think my sister and I got a pretty damn good deal considering Sprint's plans usually are more expensive compared to others until you get into the 100$ barrier. Anyways, we got the 40$ 1000 anytime minute plan, 10$ for unlimited nights/weekends, free mobile-mobile for 2yr contract. It comes out to 70$ before taxes, meaning we're basically paying 35$ apiece for 500 anytime, unlimited n/w and free pcs-pcs.

I didn't renew my contract with Sprint. They have good coverage but the reception sucks all the time. I used to live in Pittsburgh PA and now I am in Lafayette IN, I had the same poor reception in both places. What is worst is their poor software at network side. SPRINT makes all kinds of stupid things when you do not have reception. I hate when my friends tell me that I didn't answer their call even if they rang it for a long time. The thing is it never rings since the reception is sooo bad, but SPRINT sends ringing tone to the caller. You do not even see the callers number in missed calls, and all kinds of disasters follow.

I am waiting november to cancel my subscription with them, by then hopefully I will be able to keep my phone number when I change to Tmobile or Cingular..

what sprint pcs phone do you use? it makes a big difference for your reception. generally, samsung phones have lots of nice features, except for reception. sanyo also has really nice features, and is usually among the best for reception. LG isn't too good either.

I really recommend you try out another sprint phone before leaving, considering all the credits you can get each month from sprint. one trick is to just pick buy a good phone from sprint and just call customer service from the places you like to make calls from. just test the reception you get. then return the phone and try another one. no need to activate.

I too have heard the horror stories of Sprint Reception + Customer Service. I experienced some questionable customer service when signing up with them but that's something I'm good at dealing with. I'm in the bay area and so far have had pretty good reception with my Samsung A620/VGA1000, which is said to have reception pretty close or better then the Sanyo 8100/5300, widely considered as having the best reception of Sprint Phones. Even with 1 bar, the call is crystal clear. My friends, who were using cingular and ATT, kept searching for networks depending on where they were standing. My samsung refused to let go of the 1 bar and I was able to recieve a pretty clear call. I'm not going to praise them highly quite yet as it's literally my 4th day having Sprint, but so far I'm more then satisfied. you can't beat Sprint phones either :)

Oh the deals are very nice, I accept that fact with all due respect. But I really cannot stay with them after all the bad experience I had, including trying new phones. I will feel very stupid to reexperience the same things with them and have 11 more months for the contract to expire. I will feel better to at least change to another provider.
Thanks for the advice though.

To everyone saying that ATT is better than sprint or Verizon is better than sprint, remember this....

It's all where you live In Knoxville, Sprint is superior. It is far better than Verizon/Cingular/etc. However, My parents live in Nashville, and when I go home, I'd give anything for a Verizon. While I love my sprint in Knoxville, it really sucks @ss in Nashville. It just depends where you are.

I used to have:

1000 Anytime
4000 N/W @ 8pm
Unlimited PCS to PCS
$50

Then I got married and my wife got Sprint. They wouldn't let me add her phone to my plan since it was a retention plan so it made much more sense to get:

2000 Anytime
Unlimited N/W @ 9pm
Unlimited PCS to PCS
Three lines total
$100

Somehow I was able to add my brother onto my plan at no cost for the third line, so I am completely happy with my plan. It has completely replaced our land line.

only a threat for the "uneducated" if you've ever had Tmobile thier coverage is pretty weak and customer service is worse. Sprint And Verizon are the way to go.

man, i didn't get any offers for a credit towards a new phone! my girlfriend had the first retension plan w/ the 650 AT and the 3500 N&W but she was paying 39.99 and after taxes it came out to be ~44 and change. her plan ended and i really wanted her to get unlimited PCS-PCS b/c she went back home to Cali for a month and we were talking all the time. the best deal i got out of Sprint was 300 AT, Unlimited N&W that start at 8 (HAVE to ask for it) and Unlimited PCS-PCS (99% of my friends down here use Sprint) for $35. since we all use Sprint, it's the unlimited minutes that we use most. she uses like 10 AT minutes now. i wish i could have gotten that credit for a new phone for her though. i just signed a new contract last month and i tried MANY times to see if i can get anything towards a new phone!

I just got off with Sprint and they would only offer me
750 anytime mins
3000 N&W starting at 8pm
for $40

I tried to get 1000. I need that much to make me happy. They said $50.00 for 1000 anytime mins.
Offered me half off next month to think about it. My contract ends October 2nd, 2003
and heres my question, The CSR told me she documented what she offered me on my account. So if i call in again tommorrow, its all recorded. and the other CSR will see what was offered. That kills my bargining power here. Maybe i should have hung up but i didn't hear about the recording of the offer till we were done discusing their offer. The CSR said thats the best she could do right now.
What do ya guys think?. This Blows.................lol It took away my advantage.

I've called sprint twice and it seems like you're SOL if you're already on a retention plan. They keep telling me that they can't change it. Has anyone else been able to change from one retention plan to another? (my current retention plan is up)

The last time I called I did 60 extra anytime minutes a month for free, no contract. So now my plan is 34.99 for 560 anytime, 3k N&W @ 8. Decent, but not great

I have been with Sprint for several years. Just tried to renegotiate. I could not get anything more for my current plan without paying more, and could only add 100 more minutes for $10. Could someone tell me what I should be trying for? I am currently on a retention plan. I was told the 150 per month is a courtesy thing that I should not even have. Said my real plan is 750/3000. Looking for advice here.

Current Plan: $50

$40
900 Anytime
3000 Nights & Weekends (8pm)
Unlimited PCS to PCS

$10
Unlimited PCS Vision, Unlimited Data

Hey Vac,
That is the same plan that I have. They keep telling me the same thing they are telling you about getting a better plan.

I'm currently paying over $100 per month for two lines... I feel like I'm getting ripped off

500 AT minutes
u/l N/W
u/l pcs to pcs
u/l vision

1 year contract

we signed with sprint few months ago

how can i make my plan better?
if i get rid of vision... that'll be minus $15 bucks... and if i get rid of u/l pcs to pcs calling... that's another $5 off the bill
can someone post their shared line plans?? thanks

Ya gotta shop around and do your research. My old Sprint package was:

180 anytime min.
200 N/W min. starting @ 9pm
for $30/month

I went to the AT&T Wireless Web site and did some digging. If I bought through their site, they offered me:

300 anytime min.
unlimited N/W starting @ 8pm
$150 credit toward a new phone
for $30/month

I called Sprint, told them I wanted to cancel 'cuz AT&T offered me a better deal. Retention gave me this:

300 anytime min.
unlimited N/W starting @ 8pm
$50 phone credit
$15 service credit
all for $30/month

Other than the credit, they matched AT&T. I didn't want to pay more than $30/month, so I'm happy! :D

After waitng two weeks for my second phone, I finally called and asked what happened? The rep said since it was being delivered to my work address they could not finish the transaction. He said they tried to call me but the phone # was incorrect. I was like what? The phone # is my Sprint # which I have with you, how could it be incorrect? What a bunch of idots. Finally talked to a supervisor and got this plan after a 45min talk.

OLD PLAN
300min +150min anytime (rep added 150 anytime minutes)
3000 night and weekends @9:00pm
first incoming min. free
$29.99 - 10% business plan = $27.99

NEW PLAN - copied and pasted from sprintpcs.com

I got the PCS Vision Picture Phone with built-in camera (SanyoSM 8100) for just $99.99 after $130 instant savings with a diffent # that will be shared mins.

$30.00 PCS FREE & CLEAR PLAN
MINUTES ARE SHARED ON THIS PLAN
ALL MINUTES INCLUDE LONG DISTANCE
300 ANYTIME MINUTES ... added codes as they call it(+150 anytime +180 anytime + first incoming free)
UNLIMITED NIGHT AND WEEKEND MINUTES
NIGHTS: M-TH 8PM-7AM WKND: F 8PM-M 7AM
CALLER ID, CALL WAITING
THREE-WAY CALLING
VOICEMAIL

I got to keep my orginal +150 ANYTIME MINUTES and FIRST INCOMING MINUTE FREE

the added perk I got this time...

+180 ANYTIME MINUTES

The supervisor "Paul" told my they are trying to elimante the first incoming min. free from plans. This is why they are giving me the extra 180 anytime min. (they averaged out my free first incoming minutes) after a long talk my first incoming free stayed with my plan and he never took off the +180 anytime min. If you put up a fight you can keep the first incoming free dont let them tell you otherwise.

Basically got 2 phones with 2 diffent #'s One I plan to use as a business phone.
630 anytime minutes + first incoming minute free
8pm instead of 9pm + unlimited night & weekends
$29.99 plus I use my Darden employee discount of 10% which brings my bill to $26.99

I've been on their basic plan from over 2 1/2 years ago. 180AT min, don't remember off peak, for $29.99/month. Called and told them I was was going to have to cancel if I couldn't get an offer on a replacement phone (it's dead). I was offered

$100 credit
and an updated plan
300 anytime
unlimited nw (after 8pm)

I'll call back later and see if they can't do better.
