Or tell Sprint to kiss off cuz they suck, and get the ATT national Charter plan (ending soon); ie 1000 anytime minutes for $39.99, or unlimited anytime $99.99.
Also BB has the Sony Ericksson T68i for $49.99 after $100 MIR (B&M only, also ending soon) for ATT.

Cingular has the same plan, to my understanding. 1000 anytime minutes for $39.99, but they have roll over minutes. ;)

That's a good thing (unless you live in SoCal where Cingular has the worst rep of any service bar none ;)

I call them up and ask for retention when Claire asks where I want to go. Also after you get the money towards a new phone you can also call back and talk to a regular rep and they will give you even some more. I talked to one and they said that when people call they can get up to 125 towards a new phone. Thats what I got, coupled with the $400 a500 for $200 and the free camera with it, I made out like a bandit. You can also call them up and up your minutes. I have i think 700 + 3000 off peak and 500 pcs for 39.99. Don't talk to anyone but retention about it on the phone though, everyone else will try to screw you over.

I just got my daughter 750 peak, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited PCS to PCS and 8PM start for $39.99 mo.

I consolidated another 3 plans and got 1180 peak, 8PM start, 3500 anytime, unlimited PCS to PCS, unlimited Vision, a free month AND 2 free Samsung N400 phones for $120 a month!

Sprint already replaced a lost/stolen Sanyo 4900 for me and gave me a free month just two months ago.

At this point I'm extremely happy with Sprint!

You know, I'm reading about all these success stories with Sprint that you guys have, but I'm wondering, what EXACTLY are you saying? I've often thought about calling in and trying to get a better deal, but I'm at a loss for words. :( Do you just continue to whine about dropped calls and bad service, then push the fact that you want to cancel, then they give you a better deal? What if they call your bluff? or are you not bluffing? ;)

MrCraphead, I'm in your shoes as well. I'm on the $29.99 for 200 + 800NW at 8pm. I'd love to upgrade to a better, possibly cheaper plan but my biggest hitch is the contract. I'm just not ready to sign a contract stating that I definitely owe $35 a month for the next 12 months. I'm about to graduate college and really don't need to be commiting to anything like that unless I know I'll have a job after graduation. If I could see more people calling in and not having to sign a contract, I'd be more confident about calling in.

I figure what you want is a nice transcript of what to say, but I'll offer this advice. If you are a little intimidated like I am, call in and be extremely serious about everything you say, including "I want to cancel my service" and "I found a better deal for $XX.XX with XXX minutes, etc." As long as you are very persistant and confident in what you are saying, you should be okay with the right rep. There might be the chance that it won't go your way, but as others on here have stated, you can call back multiple times to try again. If you have to, write down notes on a paper with exact quotes of other deals or bluffs so that you can get what you need. The only person who's gonna suffer is the one who doesn't at least try.

On that note, I believe I'll call in next week and give it a whirl. :D

You give sound advice asuh. :) I will be sure to try that as soon as I take some notes on some of the other plans that other providers have. Competitors plans, combined with me whining about bad service and dropped calls should be enough to get me a fair deal, I hope. :\ I'm also hoping Cingular's roll over minutes will provide a bit of leverage with negotiations as well, as their plans actually do look very tempting. o_0 If all goes to hell, I'll just hang up and try again, lol. Much thanks!

Don't know if people with business accounts are still having trouble with getting a revised Spring plan but it seems that both the Business and Consumer "Retention" centers are now combined. I tried last month and got some line about how the centers were different and I called again yesterday and got the following:

750 Anytime
3000 N&W (starting @ 8)
$100 Service credit.
~for $39.99, and I still get my volume-based discount.

Not too shabby...wish they would stop carrying these damn crap phones and start carry Motorola or Nokia again...

I just gave this a shot, I couldn't believe how easy it was considering my contract is only two months old.

Old Deal

300 Anytime
3000 N/W
$35.00 a month

New Deal

750 Anytime
Unlimited N/W
$40.00 a month

A good deal IMHO for $5.00 more (for my needs)

Thanks guys.

If you want a lot of anytime minutes and are prepared to pay ~$59, tell them you are probably going with ATT's unlimited plan. Before you do this, make sure ATT still offers the national *CHARTER* plan in your state (ends 1/4 in some states, but in Feb in CA).
We've been offered 2000 anytime, plus pcs to pcs, n/w etc

I called SprintPCS and tried to cancal my service. A representative offered me a new plan as following:
$34.99 for
500 anytime minutes
2500 minute off-peak time (8pm ~ 7 am)
500 SprintPCS to SprintPCS

plus one month free, $70 credit, one year contract

Is this a good deal? How can I claim $70?

I am a sprint customer and I think that's a good deal. However I think you can get it cheaper. Thry Verizon or something...I think that the reception from sprint kinda sucks too.

Well its goodbye Sprint!

I have a family plan:
500 min peak
500 off peak
shared between three phones. That's one lame plan.

So I call to try and get a better deal. My target is $100/month for 4 phones and a reasonable number of minutes.

T-mobile is offering $90/mo; four free phones: 800 peak minutes; unlimited MTM; unlimited weekends. The problem is that their network is weak especially in my area.

Verizon is offering $100/mo; four phones for $120; 600 peak minutes; 250minutes/phone MTM; 3200 minutes N&W. They have the best network, rated #1 by New York Times.

Sprint makes this lame offer of $125/mo; no phones; 2000 anytime minutes; unlimited MTM. Their network is marginal in our area. They don't even try to retain a three year customer. $125/month with three in college doesn't cut it.

Goodbye Sprint you cheap SOBs; Hello Verizon.

Thanks to all for your encouragement

called to cancel and the best

Too much information!

I know everything is burried in this never ending humungous thread so hold the "just look at my post on page 3" replies. Looking for a kind soul to sumarize the information for me.

Here's where I am at:

I've got an old really bad plan (no nites weekends no PCS to PCS like 400 shared minutes two phones for $70 or something).

I would be just happy if I could get free (or almost free) new phones and one of the newer plans. My wifes SCH3500 is on it's last legs and I'm just plane bored with my ancient reliable as heck never dies even though I drop it on pavement all the time startak.

Anyway I'm getting ready to call sprint and tell them I want to cancel.

I've done some homework:

I've got all the other providers plans sitting out in front of me. Problem is they are all starting to look the same so I don't see how I can leverage them into a better plan with sprint.

Also I can't see the the shared minutes multiphone plan on sprints website anymore so it's hard to compare.

So:

What should I be looking for: $70 or so a month two phones? How many minutes etc.

What's a good solid phone to replace my startac. I think all the gee wiz color phones look wonderful but I want one that will stand up to my abuse. And how do I get sprint to pay for my new phone?

Thanks!

Waco, I don't see the problem with Sprint. You are getting the new phones with the other Companies, most likely cause you are a new customer. With Sprint as a new customer you most likely would get phones free or close to free after rebate. While Verizon, may have best nextwork in your area, you are getting a much better deal with Sprint. Out of all 3 of those plans, the best is Sprint as you are getting the most minutes per dollar that you pay. I'm sorry you didn't get offered credit for a phone, but because so many people are using Rention now, Sprint is using more discretion with what they offer. I originally got a 650 AT, 3000 N/W plan for $35 when I first called retention last year, my sister got likewise. My dad has the 300 AT, 3000 N/W for $30. We all jumped under my account and got a shared plan of 2500 AT, Unlimted N/W, Unlimited PCS 2 PCS, and Unlimted Vision for $100. If you were to divide that by three, it's like we each pay $33 for 830 AT, which to us is an unbelievable deal. If you want a free phone or credit for a phone, call back and complain about how poor your phone is (dropped calls, bad reception etc.) and if it's not a Vision phone, then mention how you'd like to be able to use vision. I did that and was able to get a $150 credit instantly applied toward a Sanyo 5300 (best phone on the market). I think you might want to rethink your decision, IMHO. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Never mind.

My wife got pissed with my never ending search for the perfect cell phone and came home with a pair of Samsong A310 and a verizon plan.

Not color and no bells and whistles but for some reason I really like the little $50 phone as a replacement for my startac, the verizon plan is better than what we were getting from sprint, not unlimited data but they will actually sell you a data cable, and consumer reports has rated verizon number one for service and coverage (21,000 people surveyed in 6 cities) while sprint came in a distant 6th or something.

We'll see how it goes. Got 14 days to change her mind and continue on the quest if it turns out to be a bad choice.

They have some new plans that are decent. go to their website. If you sign up for 2 yrs, you can get the pcs to pcs for free (unlimited).

Since there are over 300 posts, I couldn't really read through the whole thread... I was wondering if anyone knows of any comparable deals (for other providers) in the NYC area? It'll be a bigger leverage when talking to the retention dept. The deals that I've seen so far are far worse than even my current plan.

The "best" I've seen (at a lower rate) is tmobile's $30 plan for 300P/Unlimited Anytime national plan... no idea when is their peak time over, and as far as I can tell, their GSM national network is still nothing compared to sprint's network... if you guys see anything, can you let me know? Thanks... in the mean time... I'll make my way through this 300+ post thread.... sigh...

John.

Sprint PCS are weasels. i will never go with them. My sister was with the for a year and she doesn't know much about tech so i had to step in. She was paying 34.99 for 250 any time i believe. Most normal humans need more than 250 anytime. Her phone was crap too and Sprint PCS always has the most $$ phones. Yeah they're pimp, but there are pimp phones that other companies offer too.

I'm on 300 anytime. I don't go over. Almost did once, but thats it. I DO consider myself a normal human being. Unless thats her only line, or she is nowhere near a home phone or work phone for 10 hrs/day, I don't see how someone can go over. Also, I got my "pimp" phone for free. If you wait 2 weeks, there will be a sale for a good quality phone for free or damn cheap (mine was $150 at store, with $150 MIR. I forgot to send in the $50 one, was like a month late on sending it, but sent it anyways, cause hey, whats $.37. Ended up getting an $80 Rebate instead of a $50, so I was PAID $30 to have the phone). My only complaint is that the service isn't that great sometimes when you are indoors.
