Save your SprintPCS sucks comments, for me, it's worked great for years. I just got the two month trial of PCS Vision, and when i looked into getting some ring tones and screen savers, I found they are $1.50 - $2.50 + tax, and the kicker is they expire in 30-90 days. Am i missing something, this seems like a complete rip off..... Maybe I am just clueless on this. Does anyone actually pay $15/month for vision, then pay $2.50 for a ringtone they can use for 1-3 months? I looked around at 3gforfree, which is a joke since its not free. They want $7 for 1 year access. Well, i was thinking about it, but to preview rintones, you need PureVoice. Downloaded that and the priviews don't work. Doesn't give me confidence in what they would provide. Anyone have expierence with them? How about a place that has some free/cheap stuff and isn't a pain in the a$$?

the only ringers I'd download from sprint are the ones to use my credit on... they usually give you $5 credit per month for downloads with vision

The expiration date means that's how long you can re-download them if you need to. The ringtones don't actually expire.

But they are horrible quality. You can make your own out of wav files very easily and use one of the uploader tools to send to the phone. Same with wallpaper.

At least Sprint lets you upload your own if you have the know-how. Verizon makes you buy from them.

Links? I know google is my friend, but if you are familiar with some in particular that offer decent quality, thats info that google isn't going to tell me.

DeafeningSilence and armatron, thanks for the info.

I've used the purevoice conv myself and it works good. Made songs from my own mp3's!

I adore purevoice conv.. not too time consuming and I don't have to worry about looking for a damn thing.. oh and it's free

Vision includes 5-10 dollars in free ringtones, games, ect a month. Depends on what plan they gave you. Sign on and check, theVision Picture Plan gets $5 a month, but the other ones get $10. I have the Vision picture plan.

Sprint has THE BEST data services I've seen on a cell phone. I love the fact that on my plan I got vision for free, which means unlimited picture messaging, text messaging, wireless web, and a $5 credit toward what you buy in Sprint's Vision every month. Plus, with a cable you can tether up to your laptop and get on the web anywhere at slightly faster than 56K speeds free.

Don't forget about that $5 credit toward vision downloads each month, it's included in vision.

So what exactly IS "Vision"? Yes, I can RTFM, but I'm a no0b with cell phones -- I have a ghetto phone, used for talking (go figure!) so I don't know the possibilities.

Do you need Vision to have custom ring tones or is that a phone feature? I would love to put my own MIDI compositions on the phone for particular people's calls (Darth Vader theme for my advisor, for example :D). Do you need Vision to send pics from a picphone?

Oh, and am I better off at a store or online getting a new phone? (plan expires next month!!!)

cost me $5 when I signed up... but well worth it
yeah i donated $5 for "free lifetime membership" as well. Now i have to pay $8 to ever use it again or something like that. I understand bandwidth needs, but don't tell me i have lifetime membership and then remove it a year later

Vision is just the term for all of the data services. You need it to get custom ringtones since they can only be downloaded to the phone.

i don't like that downloadable stuff... when I had vision, all i did was browse the web with unlimited time/usage... I ended up canceling sprint altogether within the 2 month trial, but that wasn't why.

Isn't there a way to connect the phone to your PC or am I asking too much?

Ummm, no. That's way out of budget.

So, to clarify... you need to pay those SOBs an extra huge amount of money to do simple things?

Either pay month or pay by the Kb.

Isn't $15/month (per person! there are two of us) to use features of a phone you have a bit crazy? Well I guess people pay for HBO... (I never would)

Its not $15 per person. $15 for the main line, $5 for the additional ones. Also, they are also offering the "old" $10/month Vision plan as I understand it. I never switched away from that plan (got it in November '02).

Well, practically... yeah... I know for my wife's LG VX6000, you had to get a $75 cable just to interact with the PC...

Maybe you can find some phone-hacking/modding boards that could explain how to get around such things with your own devices...

Doesn't the Sprint Users Forum have some kind of tool for uploading stuff to the phones?

Oy! Since when did phones get so complicated?
