The thing even worked in most of the casinos in Vegas without a problem.

I agree with you on that... in fact, I got the best service ever in Vegas! I was on the bottom of the Venetian, and figured I would never get service, but I had a full five bars. The only thing that would explain that is if there was a cell site in the hotel, or very close, because usually in large buildings like that, signal is blocked.

<< Anyone have opinions of SprintPCS in the Rochester/Buffalo NY area? >>

I have been using Sprint in Buffalo (I go to SUNY Buffalo) and also in NYC (thats where i live) for more than a year, and i could not be happier with the service i have received. almost no dropped calls (unless im in a specific place where no signal can get through - an elevator, etc.). all i can say is, choose your phone wisely - there can be big differences between phones.

sprint now offers the new sanyo phone that is super lightweight and small. I believe it is just over 1cm thick. This is the exact same phone that everybody uses in Japan. I spent a year living over there, and basically everybody owns that phone or the color version of it.

WTF does their long distance have to do with Sprint PCS? Get a grip. You'll find gripes about all the "big" companies - Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, VoiceStream, etc. I'd tried a couple other PCS services here before switching to Sprint, and I've been 100% pleased. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired, admittedly, and their coverage could certainly improve, but all-in-all they've got a great service.
