I may not be popular for suggesting this, but give ebay a try before craigslist. I've sold quite a few things on there for a lot more than I would have expected it to sell. For example, I sold an old Pioneer GPS Head Unit (AVIC D1) for $450!! I bought it new for $750 and the one I sold had a little scratch on the screen (which I did photograph and point out in my auction). If I put it on craigslist I would probably have expected to get like $225-$250 for it...even with fees, I still came out ahead by selling it on the bay.

I sold my old component rack through craigslist this morning for $60 (bought it for $35 about 4-5 years ago)

My GF has an uncanny ability to resell items via CL for twice what she or I paid. bought some Ikea shelves off of CL about 3 years ago for $20. She sold them last month on CL for $40. :)

She bought a keyboard off of eBay for ~$120 several years ago and recently sold it for $200.

Yes, I did. Actually, I got the camcorder for free via my credit card company ;)

As for the TV, when you figure in the depreciation (its 8 years old), I still think I came out ahead.

I've thought of selling lot of stuff, but I've heard too many horror stories, like if the thing stops working you're held liable YEARS after because you sold it.

how is that possible with a cash transaction?

and years after? what kind of crack-head do you get your info from?

also...how can anyone be "held liable" in such a transaction? Just because the buyer complains, or may believe such a thing, sure as shit doesn't make it the case.

if you shop on CL you understand the rules. just avoid the scammers.

I've heard plenty of horror stories, even on these forums. Guess with non electronic or mechanical stuff it's not as bad, but stuff that could potentially stop working anytime... it's a risk.

I've sold a few old servers to people and took my chances though, but so far so good.
