I shall now attempt to be witty and say that the non-existence was part of my point to cover up forgetting that it's now the Czech Republic! ;)

Time for you to read about the individual achievements of both of these people and educate yourself.

Protip: Peter hasn't made a classic since Bullfrog vanished.

I still don't get it. I understand that you create your character/monster/animal/thing, it evolves, you mold it however you wish, and it lives it's life based on how you design it. It goes off, eats and mates, and you evolve it again, etc etc.

What am I missing here? I know there is also to be some kind of mode that you can visit other plantes, aka other players worlds, but that still doesn't sound intriguing. I simply cannot fathom what is exciting and/or revolutionary about a "game" like this. Sure, if done correctly, it will be one hell of a feat of programming, but I just don't get caught up in a game once the creators start using words like "procedural".

I have a feeling that Spore will end up like Fable... Molyneux (aka Wright) promised the world and delivered... ummm Czechoslovakia?

Don't compare Will Wright to Peter Molyneux, jesus.

Yeah, Will Wright has just created sim games over and over again, a one trick pony. Peter is more than just one game and has developed many original and different types of games.

So... he creates games in the simulation genre. This is a reason to insult him because...? I have no idea why you felt the need to call him that.

Educate yourself. Black & White was developed at Lionhead Studios.

UPDATE
Reports that Electronic Arts? highly anticipated Spore has been further delayed are ?misinformation,? the publisher told Next-Gen today.

It?s one of the most anticipated games of today, and any word of further delay for Will Wright?s Spore is sure to make headlines.

But reports making rounds today are basically old news being made into ?new? news, EA said.

?There seems to be some misinformation flying around,? explained a rep in a phone interview. ?Nothing?s changed since our call on May 8, where [CEO] John Riccitello specifically said that we were moving Spore from fiscal ?08 to early fiscal ?09."

EA's fiscal 2009 runs from April 2008 through March 2009.

During that May earnings call, Riccitello stated, "?Spore is a title we have enormous confidence in. I've had the chance to review the title three times in the my short return to EA and it looks fantastic. I will also tell you that it's right up [to] the bubble in Q4 [of fiscal ?08], if not sometime in early fiscal '09, so we don't feel comfortable in forecasting it."

There has yet to be a firm announced released date for Spore. An "early fiscal '09" release means that the game could theoretically launch in spring 2008.

The rep said that the rumor of the additional delay was exacerbated by a quote making the rounds in the games press lifted from the latest issue of Game Informer which says that the game is ?delayed indefinitely.? Apparently, the information from the conference call was misconstrued, the rep determined.

?It?s the same information we said in May. Spore?s progressing and it looks great,? she added.

Saw some gameplay video during a news bit on this last night. Graphically it looked nice, but what the hell is the game aspect of it?

It depends on the type of gamer you are. Spore is more of a "Sims" type sandbox game where you play around with the lifeforms you create than a mission-objective type game like Splinter Cell or Oblivion.

Expect to see expansion packs like Spore: Party in Space and Spore: Evolution vs Creationism.

Well, that all depends on whether or not you consider B&W a classic. It was different, for sure. But classic....eh not so sure.

It was also one of the most overhyped games of all time. Followed closely by Fable. Peter has a terrible habit of promising things he can't really deliver.

Spore is supposed to end up as a bunch of mini games. Each stage in the game being a new mini game. You start out as a single celled organism which will most likely play out similar to http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/core.html this.

And then eventually you evolve into a creatue on land and it will most likely play out like a 3rd person action game. Then you evolve into a race of creatures that will play like an RTS. Then you evolve into a space race type game which may play out like a space strategy or sandbox-esque game.

That's what I gathered. I'd bet anything that even though the game looks decent and we've seen a lot of demos of it. They are probably having a lot of trouble tying the whole thing together and making it an enjoyable experience.
