I remember when I went to Montana at age 7 and hopped on my first air liner. And then I did it again at age 10 when my mother took me to Florida for Disney World. I remember it as being a pretty pleasant experience. Sadly it seems ever since the 2000's I hear absolutely no good things about flying on an airplane ever.

The first time I flew was from Houston to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and it was an amazing experience. This wasn't even that long ago (early 90s). I have yet to have a "great" experience since. Even first class over seas (which is the only way to go), is only "not a bad experience", it seems. =( I suppose I will have a much better experience going to Qatar in 4 years though, except for the whole dry country thing.

Emirates biz class in an A380 is fucking amazing.

Spririt charged me $45 for a carrying on.

How long ago did you fly? I have a ticket for August that my buddy paid for and looking at the site it says $45 for a check in bag plus $2 since its summer.

I didn't see how much a carry on was but I won't have one. Last time I flew with them I paid $30 for a checked in bag since I declared it online.

If you do it at the gate instead of at check in I know it costs more.

What do you think caused the sudden and abrupt downward spiral? Greed? 9/11?

Are you 5' 4"? I'm not. I'm 5" 11", know what the difference is? Fitting in the god damned seat.

I get budget, I get having cheaper fares and charging/bag. Design the fucking seats for normal humans.

Me too, I know how you feel. My legs never have any space and its a pain when the person in front leans their chair back.

Because of this thread I added Spirt Airlines to my flight sim. LOL. I was amazed I didn't have that airline. They fly out of Fort Lauderdale. I was amazed I didn't have the AI because I have like 1,500 different AI flying around me at any give time. My FS install is 26 GB! LOL Bet no one has a game install that big. :awe:

I flew with them in April 2014, it was fucking $45 ONE way; so I had to paid $90 RT for a carry on from SD to vegas. I was PO.

My brother flew with us airways and I paid $25 for one bag checked in and a free carry on. I really should have bought this ticket on my own not let my friend buy it because now I'm going to spend $90 just to bring a luggage with me.

Prices sure went up since last time I flew. I don't mind $25-30 each way but more than that it's stupid.

Well the wife and kids flew yesterday morning and for the most part, she said the flight was fine. She said not only did they not scrutinize people's carry ons, she saw people carrying on those huge rolling bags. I'll probably do the same when I fly since I carry my medical supplies with me, they can't make me check it in.

I think it is because air travel, while being a necessity, is not a profitable business. Air lines, rather than just embrace then and file for bankruptcy every 10 or so years, are constantly cutting corners to put off the inevitable collapse of their shitty company.

I just flew American last weekend (about a 2 hour flight) and it sucked. I didn't fly first class, as that is just a waste for such a short flight, but looking at it didn't make me want to spend the extra money. It was pathetic.

I just checked my confirm code for my ticket on spirit's website. I can edit my info on there and also add a check in bag online. It's $21 each way vs $45 each way at the airport. Can't complain I guess.

Did you join the $9 fare club?

Not that I remember. I have flown with them before but I never joined that program. I think it would be cheaper if I had that. If you do an online check in just print a receipt and bring it to the airport to make sure they know when you go to get your boarding pass.

i flew on frontier this weekend and they are now charging $1.99 for water and coffee.... so now not only do i have to fork over $25 bucks EACH WAY for my small carry on for a overnight trip but now you are charging me coffee and water?? FUCK YOU!

I went on a family vacation this past christmas flying to cancun with them. What I did is I booked 1 ticket for myself, and signed up for the fare club. Then I booked my families tickets and use the fare club discounts for the check bags.

I always had to pay when flying domestically for coffee or drinks. Last time I flew with delta or US they still charged for coffee but I didn't ask for water. I know they were charging for sparkling water. This while a while ago so maybe now its changed.

I really don't get it. You guys spend as little money as possible on the ticket and expect it to have the same comforts and perks of other airlines? It is super cheap for a reason...
