Thanks! In for two.

The code drops $9 off the first one and $6 off the second one (and $0 off the third).

Free UPS ground shipping too.

I bought this with ewiz's last $5x deal and it is definitely worth it. I will probably get my wife one now.

Its definitely speedy for a hd. I get on average those numbers below...

Burst: 228 MB/s

Starts @ 150 MB/s and Ends @ 80 MB/s

Average Speed: 122 MB/s

Latency @ 14.5ms

Pretty good numbers for a plattered hard drive!

Good luck with packaging. I ordered this drive last week and it was shipped in a small OEM HD brown box 3"x7"x8" via UPS ground. It had a big dent on the bottom like it was kicked around. It had the little plastic holders on the inside to hold the drive in place. They should have placed this small box in a bigger box with peanuts.

Another good deal is the MSI GTX 460 1GB card. 194-$15 instant coupon - $15 mail in rebate = $164. This card is going for over $200 most places.

i've bought a dozen drives from them this year and had no probs due to their packaging... let's not load up the landfills any more for cosmetic happiness...

wut? It's not for cosmetic happiness. It's for getting a working drive that will last. Did they pack yours like they did mine? This is a major problem with etailers these days. NE, TD, Ewiz and more are packing these large cap HDs like it's a little $2 4GB thumb drive. These large drives cannot handle the shock.

In for 1 as well, been looking for one of these to go on sale... thanks OP. Hopefully the packaging doesn't suck and the HD arrives undamaged... the packaging from Superbiiz kind of suck as Lanyap has pointed out.

Update:
The drive arrived today in a single slot foam enclosure that was the exact size as the shipping box as well. They even put in an air pillow to buffer the drive, on top of the foam. Foam is a good 1 to 2 inches thick all the way around. No complaints with the way it was shipped. Very solid.

I just got a 500gb from TD in a H U G E box.....packed like shit inside! That brown paper wrap being used is a joke!

I know where your coming from with the small box thing....but it is at least a box made for hdd's.

I am a daily ups shipping point at my storage units. You can pack shit right, or you can't!!

I am still amazed e-tailers don't focus down on packing, to save BIG money on returns, and oversized packages. The savings are there in a world searching for savings! Hire a person just for this task!

Any idea how this compares to a first gen 10k RPM WD 74GB Raptor? Obviously the size is a huge difference, but would the Raptor still be a better OS drive?

edit: Eh, maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get a SSD when I find a good deal.

There's an Intel SSD deal floating around right now.

Thanks for the link. I'm in for one for my son's new rig. Hard to beat the price for this amount of storage.

F3 is faster than a Raptor 74GB, an SSD is way, way faster. Depends if you have another drive to use for storage...if so, the SSD upgrade is the way to go.

If you look at their list of combos for this drive, they have one with a Samsung 22X SATA DVD burner. If you add to the cart and apply the code, it ends being just ~$8 more for the DVD drive.

EDIT: NM. Adds $12 shipping cost. Please ignore.

UGH! Good catch! You're right. I didn't actually place an order, and didn't do the preliminary shipping calc. Sorry about that. Not so great anymore. I'll update the prev post just in case someone doesn't read all the way done.
