This probably won't be it, but....

What if it's an MMO space sim, basically EVE within the Star Wars universe?

Heh, that's basically what I just said, except I wouldn't want it to be space only. Basically, Planetside 2, but add space combat.

Oh, and EVE is uh...what do you call it? Click to fly instead of directly flying your ships? Wouldn't want it like that, direct control please.

my only hopes are the following:

1. x-wing/tie fighter
2. republic commando
3. KOTOR 3

I'm sadly tired of the Jedi Knight series. Force Unleashed was disappointing to say the least. I actually liked the pod racing game, but nobody would buy that now. I haven't played SWTOR so I cannot comment on that. The SW: Battlefield games were boring and buggy. I hope that they do not go that route again. CoD and others would just mop the floor with them due to the weapons and support.

You beat me by 2 minutes. Darn you!

Anyway... maybe click to go somewhere, then steering/direct control during any fight? The whole idea of smuggling is pretty well established in the universe, so maybe you have, smugglers, bounty hunters, legit traders, pirates, the trade federation, empire, rebels, independents...

battlefront wasn't bad, but wouldn't mind another made in more proper battlefield method. a more robust commando or more xwing would be nice also. hell, I still play republic alliance and wouldn't mind an up to date version of that.

Really? How can you be 'tired' of Jedi Knight? The whole series is 3 games long, basically (I don't really count the original Dark Forces), and the last one, Jedi Academy, came out in 2003.
That's not even taking into account how f***ing amazing the first two really were (and Academy to a lesser extent), but 9 years between sequels seems like enough time to cool off.

I actually liked the force unleashed 1, although I did play it on wii. The second one I played on PC and didn't like it. You should try it on wii it's much more fun, well actually you could use xbox kinect or the playstation equivelant now.

I really wanted to like The Force Unleashed. I enjoyed the first section where you play as Vader. it went downhill from there.

The ridiculous thing is that all LucasArts has to do is do a major update on the graphics to xwing/tie fighter and they instantly have a game that would be a game of the year winner and everyone would laud it for being so new and exciting. It's sad to see how far gameplay has fallen behind where it used to be.

Games from 1993 have deeper gameplay and more replay value that stuff released 15 years later. SAD.

To take it further, they could just update the games to 32/64 bit and modern graphics and resale their entire catalog in decent numbers.

I can see your point. However, I would count the original Dark Forces in the mix as it was a great game. It was the first FPS in the SW universe and held its own.

JK: DF2 was good/great. AI was a little dumb but that was a long time ago. I still remember the boss fights. I'd always get worked by the little green guy.

Outcast was great. It had a good story and good gameplay. If I remember correctly it didn't add much to the mix except for multiplayer and I didn't play online at that time.

Academy was just boring. I didn't even finish it after trying three times.

what started to annoy me about the series was that it never changed its framework. go here, shoot the group of baddies, grab a key, go back to the other side of the level, shoot more baddies, get your lightsaber and just rule the land. there were a few times when you had to figure out the timing of a few bosses or movements of a couple baddies, but that was about it. Once you had your LS that was all you used going forward unless there were people sniping you that you couldn't run or jump to.

I do concede that 9 years is a long enough wait for the next installment.

What I'm afraid of is a severely dumbed down game, no matter what they decide to make.

This seems to be Lucas Arts' modus apparendi these days with SW games.

Not sure you can pin that on Lucas Arts. It seems that most game development companies are guilty of that same thing. Personally I blame the wider market and a money grab for the widest possible distribution. Hence they need to build the game for the lowest common denominator.

Just my opinion.

So, did anyone actually watch it? What did they reveal?

On an unrelated note, My EX - GF (years ago) found this mod for the original Dungeon Siege that converted the game to Star Wars. it was pretty friggin awesome at the time.

It's probably going to be the force unleashed 3. Just watch....

So we can get even more games that totally break the story of the entire universe.

A TIE Fighter sequel would be incredible. But it's 2012 so they would derp the shit out of it.

Star Wars: 1313. You play a bounty hunter, name unknown. Third person/over the shoulder view.

More info June 4.

Disappointment. Could be good, but no X Wing, no TIE fighter, nor is it (apparently) a Star Wars MMOFPS.

Weak.

It's not anything that anyone was hoping for.

But when the hell in the past 6 or 7 years has LucasArts ever given us what we hoped for, if ever?

Could be a good game. Who knows.

Could be a good game, but we all know this is actually going to be The Force Unleased without the force, or lightsabers.

Pile of Crap.

Bounty Hunter (ps), Rogue Squadron(xbox), Jedi Outcast(pc) and Republic Commando(pc) were all good games. I bought a steam pack with a bunch of old star wars games and they look like they would have been great games back in the day but the graphics are way too dated. I do actually have a working version of Tie Fighter but last time I tried I couldn't find my bloody target. But an updated flying game like Rogue Squadron for the PC would be tops on my wish list.
