Question: Why Spidey doin that good ?

Answer 1 : Becos Sissy Spidey opened when there was no competition at all.

Answer 2 : Got more people to watch spidey in the 3rd week because a number of people couldnt get tickets for starwars.

When the final scores come out, aotc will baseball batter spideys gross. aotc is a long run movie.....compare spidey to the lame mummy returns opening record and feel good about it.

P.S:

Becos Sissy Spidey opened when there was no competition at all.

That is impressive considering the ATOC had all those no life loser Star Wars Fans who would see it no matter how good it was.

this is where a little punctuation would help.

1. You don't know why spiderman was terribe? (you don't know what made spiderman terrible.).

2. You don't know why, Spiderman was terrible. (your amazed spiderman did so well because it was a terrible movie).

wow, 8th grade english is actually useful. :)

Hypocrisy is a bitch.

Ahh but everyone underestimated how deep Spidy has been planted into American culture. He has a fanbase that has been around since the 60's

<<You notice how it is only the Spider-Man fanatics that have to start threads like this. Star Wars fanatics politely create their own threads talking about Star Wars while Spider-Man fanatics are always in this comparison game. "Oh look. I made more money in Week 1. I am the champion. Hey, everyone, look at me!">>

Ehhh....I recall reading some Spider-Man threads and Star Wars boards where Star Wars Fans were proclaiming that Spidey's record will be shortlived. If you check the Spider-Man hype boards, there's tons of Star Wars Fans bashing Spidey and saying it's record would fall. Just don't get too worked up about it.....it's just friendly competition...it's like the rivalry between Lakers and Kings fans. :)

Plus, the battle is just beginning....it'll be interesting who wins at the end...but Spider-Man is looking to be both a sprinter and marathon runner.

AOTC was sh!t loads better than Spidey. I liked SPidey, but its no comparison to SW. Wait till the final grossing. Thats the real #'s. A lot of people didnt go to watch SW because they know its gona be crowded.

Plus... Yoda kicked ass! :D

AotC still made a bunch of money even when peeps were going to see spiderman. So in reality for Clones to make that much money when another box office smash was out makes it a big hitter in my books.

The only two good things about spidey were Kirsten dunst.

In other news, Titanic debut with a take of $28.6 million - there is no freaking way it's ever going to break any records!

Ok, that's not true. Well it is true but I also though it was as great show. But I am a die hard SW fan so I am partial to AotC. So does it matter who made the most? Nope , unless we get some of the profit, then it will matter. :) But I am convinced that when AotC has been shown wolrd wide it will be the movie to beat this year. While I'm sure Spiderman is big all over the place I'm almost as sure that it wil not be as big as AotC will be once it gets world wide.

And if it is some how as big as AotC, big deal.

So far Spidey is holding up well worldwide:

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones: Est. Overseas Gross: $69.1 million / 5,854 theaters / 72 countries
Spider-Man: Overseas Gross: $64.2 million / 26 countries

A $4.9 Million difference when you're playing in 46 lesser countries ain't so bad huh? :)

<sarcasm>Yes, Spider-Man making $4.9 million less even though it has been around for 3 times as long is really impressive!</sarcasm> :)
