Nobody except closet racists will care. Also, the peter parker origin story has been done to death and I Don't want to sit through it again. I'd much rather watch a different one.

I kinda do. I don't want them to do any origin. I want them to have Spidey swing right into the aftermath of New York.

Lionsgate is just waiting for the right time to unleash their Man-Thing

Hahaha. :D He actually seems appropriate for that studio. Would happily check out an LG Man-Thing.

I agree with this. How many times can they show us a Spidey origin. Everyone knows who he is at this point, just plunk him in the movie and start going.

Wow, that's nuts.

This image should make things as clear as mud for movie rights.

all you need is a web shot coming from off-screen with the universal sound of webslinging, pulling one of the avengers out of harms way, and *bam* Spidey has arrived bitches.

Yeah, they should squeeze in at least 5 min for Age of Ultron, especially if the Iron Man vs Hulk fight is in NY. He should swing in and be like WTF are you guys doing, you're supposed to heroes. Then put him in Civil War.

I'm pretty sure they've stopped filming, given that the release date of Age of Ultron is less than 3 months away.

They can do the after credits scene if anything. They added that shwarma scene in like 2 weeks after UK release.

Agreed, and frankly I don't want another spidey-only movie. Most of the spidey villains are stupid and have been done to death anyway, so we really need an Avengers style of movie for spiderman to be entertaining again.

It's 100% because of how bad the last Spiderman movie turned out. Had it been good, Sony would never be doing this which is why they had already planned out their next installment of connected movies.

I definitely think this will be better for us, Marvel has yet to make a bad movie, everything has been at least decent.

I disagree, I think this far more about success of Marvel far more than it is about the failure of Sony.

Even if Sony had been making a ton more money than they have off of Spiderman, they could be making even more money by loaning him out to Marvel for crossover appearances.

Basically, Marvel is printing money right now, and Sony would want some of it regardless.

that's the plan -- to have Spidey show up in an MCU movie first; then have his standalone movie which will probably be completely different than any of the recent ones as Marvel studios' characters can now make an appearance.

it's a win-win for studios and geekdom all around.

I've seen some talk over people wanting to see Miles Morales instead of Peter Parker as the MCU Spider-Man. Thoughts? I'm wondering if that would work since moviegoers probably strongly associate Peter Parker with Spider-Man. I mean... we've had Spider-Man movies for 13 years and they've all been Peter Parker.

That's wishful thinking on Miles' fans. I doubt that they'd throw out Parker as he outsells Miles on comics and to almost everyone Spider-Man = Peter Parker. The only reason Miles worked was because it was in the Ultimate Line, which most Marvel fans don't care about. They'd never be able to get away with it if they tried that in the normal Marvel Comic 616 universe.

Nobody except closet racists will care. Also, the peter parker origin story has been done to death and I Don't want to sit through it again. I'd much rather watch a different one.

A lot of people would care, throwing racism into this is bullshit. There have been, what 5 movies with Parker as Spider-Man? Most of those fans know and love Parker. He's too popular for them to do something that drastic.

The biggest issue with rebooting so soon is we keep seeing the origin. You also have too many people trying to fix 'problems' that don't really exist. I'll never get why people want to try an make a more realistic spider that bites Parker but can accept that he can walk on walls and whatnot. As much as I don't want to see him get a new origin, I'm pretty sure we'll see it again, only this time it'll be more in line with the Marvel universe. Tony Stark will probably come up with some super spider that bites him.. or more likely they'll tie it into Ant-Man

Miles has been causing racist rants from idiots since he was first announced.

People love spiderman, not peter parker. You're seriously overselling the attachment people have to him. Especially after Toby's emo dance phase.

Oh, and the movies follow the Ultimate universe more than the normal universe.

On a tangent, I think my biggest gripe with the Toby Maguire series was casting the kid from That 70's Show as Venom. Maybe as Carnage, since he's a skinny guy, but Venom was supposed to be a big bodybuilder type of dude. I didn't like the Garfield kid from the commercials, but once I sat down & watched both of the new movies, he grew on me. I liked Toby's nerdiness & I liked Andrew's sarcasm.

I think what they need to do is cast a sarcastic nerd as the next Spider-man, basically combine both of those traits, but also amp up the sarcasm a notch, because that's really what made the comic books fun. I hate to recommend Ryan Reynolds for every role (especially since the great Deadpool trailer), but someone who is constantly spouting out witty stuff would be great for the next Spider-man role.

Although he's too old, Simon Pegg would be hilarious. I've seen Jake Gyllenhaal's name thrown around out there & I could see it working if he had a really good writer, although he's a bit too serious & the real Spider-man is more fun at heart, same with Josh Hutcherson (from Zathura). One of the things I liked about the comic book Spider-man was that underneath, he was optimistic & liked to have fun and keep fighting the bad guys light. Garfield nailed some of that with the sarcasm, but wasn't a perfect fit either imo.

Spider-Man movies have been following their own stuff with bits taken from the normal Marvel comics. Regardless.. Miles isn't just a race change, he's a completely different character, that's why they'll never do him. Just like Bruce Wayne = Batman, Clark Kent = Superman, Peter Parker = Spider-Man for people. Even more so the movie people that could care less about comics. Hell, almost everyone I've ever known, or heard talk about Miles refer to him as Ultimate Spider-Man, never just "Spider-Man". They're not going to throw out a known property for the relative unknown that Miles is.

I just realized that Richard Ayoade (from the IT Crowd) would make an amazing Miles Spider-man :awe: C'mon, tell me you don't see it:

I wonder if this deal allows Sony to have more time before losing the Spidey movie rights. I would be nice to see a quality Spiderman movie. Disney/Marvel can only make so many super hero movie so allowing other studios to do others is fine with me, just stop with the crap movies.

I too would like to see a quality Spiderman movie, I'm talking on-par with Ironman #1 & Captain America #2: Winter Solider - I want a Spider-man movie that will blow me away!

I was talking about MCU. The Spiderman universes sony has worked on are being eliminated in favor of just adding spidey to the MCU. The Avengers movie was based on an Ultimates storyline, with the Sam Jackson style Nick Fury, etc.

All I'm saying is that if spiderman was Miles instead of peter, the vast majority of movie goers wouldn't care, and the only people loudly complaining will be closeted racists.
