Speeding tickets

What do you usually do to fight them?

Story:

I was pulled over doing 9 mph over last year, showed up myself and got it reduced. just got one for 14 over.......

I just don't get citations and save myself a lot of money and hassle. Since you already have, going to court may result in the judge reducing the fine or dropping some points.

but....

$100 - $250 for a lawyer? Geez call TicketClinic. You won't be paying more than $140 and most of the time it will be under $100.

Depends on the state, but here in Colorado if its a first offense then you can just pay the fee and have your points reduced by half.

I just pay the fine. My insurance company doesn't raise rates for tickets (but they will drop you if you are a habitually bad driver).

In all my years of driving (currently 26..started the usual age as everyone else), I have YET to get a ticket. I've been pulled over only once, and was let off.

Where's the option to do a written defense? I never go, just write to the judge and fight it through the mail.

Whats ticket clinic?

My typical MO is not to get them. Got my only one about 20 years ago, deserved it, learned to not drive like an asshole. Went to court, plead guilty to a lesser charge, paid the fine.

A bunch of lawyers that go to court for you to dismiss your ticket and all points for a fee. The process on my end whenever I have had to do it in the past (very few times mind you) consisted of a 10 min phone call, one fax (the ticket itself), and a single debit card transaction over the phone of $90-$100 which was always less money than the ticket and I don't have to worry about traffic school or my insurance rates going up.

TicketClinic

Heck, the last time I got a ticket was during a road trip to my parents house. After getting the ticket I immediately made the phone call and took care of everything only 10 min after the cop drove off. When I arrived at my destination I made a quick fax and forgot about the whole thing until a couple months later after the court date had passed and I got my letter in the mail telling me everything was dismissed.

Radar-seeking guided missiles.😎

Honestly, I've never gotten a speeding ticket. The only time I got pulled over doing a decent speed (~75 in a 60) the cop gave me a "negligent driving" ticket instead because he didn't get a radar reading. Seeing as that's the sort of ticket that's impossible to fight (your word against his), I went to court and got a deferred finding, kept my nose clean for a year, and the ticket was dropped. I think that one cost me about $200...the fine was going to be $500+points.

Other times I got pulled over:

Going ~8 over (Fix-it ticket for busted headlight, thank you sir)
Going ~5 over (Searched the car for weed, gave me a warning)
Going ~8 over (New Jersey...my only really bad experience with the cops.)

I've had a couple, and paid them, and accepted that my stupidity resulted in points. They are now all off my record though, as it has been 6 or 7 years since my last one. Just suck it up and don't waste everyone's time if you were actually in the wrong.

Depends on where I receive the ticket, out of state, I don't usually do anything but send the money in. My only in-state ticket, I called the PD and they adjusted the ticket to make it not show on my insurance.

In-state: I just pay 30 bucks more and they'll make it a non-moving violation. No judge, no lawyer.

Out of state: pay the money and move on.
