I've had 3 speeding tickets in nearly 40 years of driving.
One was due to the truck I was driving having different sized tires on it than the speedometer was geared for...showed I was driving slower than I actually was. Went to court over that...GUILTY. (Idaho law doesn't require a speedometer, but it does require you not to speed.)
Next one was by radar. My speedometer showed I was driving about 57 in a 55, the cop wrote me for 70. I took that one to court and won. (I was on the company clock with no incentive to speed, and was the guy everyone was passing, flashing their lights, honking their horns, and waving at...but were too lazy to wave with all their fingers...
The last one was legitimate. The cop wrote me for 62 in a 55...at 4 a.m...even though the rest of the cars on the freeway were flying by me. (this was about a year before the speed limit was raised to 65) I took it to court...and paid the fines, but they were about 1/2 what the ticket notification said.

It is silly not to go to court in MD. The points make our already high insurance rates crazy high. As far as I know, they cannot give you more points if you show up for court. It's either a wash, or your points will be reduced.

Same here, but I'm 24. I got pulled over in a rural area at 1 AM. The cop was just making sure I hadn't been drinking.

Riiiiight. Only a complete fool will immediately plead guilty to any crime, no matter how petty.

No one in their right mind ever pleads guilty at the drop of a hat.
You plead not guilty and go to court. When you're in court you deal with the judge and come to an agreement on what you WILL plead guilty to. Ya know, a plea deal?

I really can't believe there are still people in this country that are dumb enough to simply plead guilty to an offense without a single second in a court of law.

You live in a country that actually allows due process, yet you want to a badass and 'man-up' when it comes to 'doing the time', and not even bother with any of your rights?

Way to be.

What an ignorant fucktard you are. Not everyone is a bitch and whines about THEIR OWN mistakes. If I did it, I'll accept it. Now If I was doing 60 and was wrote for 70, that's a different matter.
What don't you jump up and down a couple of times? Maybe your balls will descend and you can man up.

Never had a speeding ticket, but where is the option for taking driving school and not getting any points?

Thanks for the compliment billy badass. My ignorance is only trumped by your blinding stupidity at times.

Not automatically pleading guilty to a crime has nothing to do with being a bitch, whining, moaning about mistakes and 'manning up'. Only a hardheaded jackass would think that. What kind of 'man' doesn't use the tools they are given in a system? That's about the dumbest purely testosterone driven bullshit I've ever heard.

You're given the task of digging a ditch, you're offered a shovel to assist you, but since you're such a manly man you say "no, I'll just use my hands, thanks anyway". The foreman thinks you're dumb, but you think you're a man.

Your friend is a contractor and you hire him to lay some floors for you. He offers you a discounted rate because he's your friend. You refuse because you're going to 'man up' and pay full price, because you're a man and men have moral standards right? You're friend thinks you're crazy, but you think you're the better man.

The court sends you a paper stating they will offer you a non-moving violation with no points and just a fine. You refuse and tell them to give you the full penalty, because you're a man and you take your lumps. The court thinks you're and idiot but gladly takes more of your money, and so does your insurance company.

Yep, being a 'man' must mean you stick to your guns and stand up for what you believe is right, no matter how much evidence is provided to prove you're wrong.
I guess I'm glad I'm not a 'man' then, because it sounds a lot like being a sucker.

The last speeding ticket I had was prolly 10 years ago.

I had it taken care of for $75 + court costs. Ended up around $125 total I think.

Drive smart and you'll never get a speeding ticket.

Blah, blah, blah. I have never been contacted by a court and offered a lesser charge. Your analogies suck. Being tasked with digging a ditch and violating the law and getting a ticket are two entirely different scenarios. Apples to oranges.
But I am not surprised a boy with no character or integrity couldn't figure that out.
Go ahead and rob that bank, the insurance company will pay for it. After all, the ends justify the means.

You've never been contacted by an officer of the court because you're foolish enough to automatically plead guilty. They love suckers like you. So do the insurance companies.

The analogies are just fairly sound for the dicsussion. The only problem is that An apples to oranges comparison is comparing robbing a bank and getting a speeding ticket. Though I'm not surprised an old man who places pride over common sense would think that.

The justice system relies on people taking plea deals, but there are always hardasses who feel the need to 'man up' no matter how much it hurts them.

Sucker.

I voted for: Dont fight it, pay the fine, take the points.

Really its more like: Dont fight it, pay the fine on the spot with my credit card (or cash if I have it), take automatic 180 day court supervision, laugh out loud at all the people who have to deal with points for speeding tickets.
