I got one... it's a night shot... 63 in a 45... 100$ Is it fightable?... they don't have a picture of me... just the car.

I don't think it is...if it was, what would stop every person who got caught from claiming they weren't driving the car?

Thats pretty screwy though isnt it? I mean what if I lent the car out to someone else? How would I go about proving it? And what would stop that person from saying I was lying? I just don't see how it's really enforceable.

You MAY be able to fight it. 1st, verify on the picture how long the light was yellow before tuning red. I'm not sure where it is on the picture, but i believe it is FEDERAL law that the traffic light has to be yellow at least 3 seconds before turning red. If it is 2.9 seconds, the ticket is not admissable.

It was a speeding ticket camera not a red light camera...

D'oh! Time to call 1-800-ABCDEFG and get Hooked on Phonics. Reading is Fundamental, too.

Sorry...I've never heard of a speeding camera ticket. where do they have these?

ya it is...there isnt a reason to be going that fast. You got caught which sucks, but if you could fight the ticket and win, then they would not install them in the first place.

dude just photoshop a picture with you and your buds and a party of some sort. Have a picture that has time and date and show your in the picture, therefore proving you werent in the car.

Computer skills FTW

It was not a residential area... it was a highway... DC has weird speed limits. They're trying to raise revenue...

Isn't the burden of proof on the state to prove that you, and not your car, was speeding? If you are blurry in the picture, or some doubt can be made that the picture is of you, then they should have to dismiss the ticket. This is assuming you have a resonable judge of course. You could also issue a motion for discovery for a (probably nonexistant) traffic engineering survery and try to use that to get out the ticket.

Thats what I thought too... but then aren't they going to ask me "who was driving the car?"

I see you have no ethics whatsoever.

they probably would but then you could blame it on a foreigner that was here in America 😀

and btw..from that picture you appear to be a good 9 feet tall 😛

It's only $100 and no points, doesn't seem worth the time and effort to fight it. You sped, you got caught, the fine is relatively light. I'd just pay it.

What kind of highway, like an interstate highway? I thought driving through DC like on the 95 as a 55 or 65pmh speed limit, if you could actually drive that fast in traffic heh.

Still, $100 for 18 over is getting off easy in my opinion.

ok well next question... does it show up on my driving record, and thereby effect my insurance?

There is no burden on you to prove who was driving the car at the time, only a burden for the state to prove that you were. Of course, local laws may vary so double check with your state's/municipalitie's laws.

EDIT: If you want to check to see if it effects your insurance, check and see if the offense is a one in which you can get points. If it is, then yes, it will effect your insurance unless you are able to do something like traffic school or supervision.

Bet they got you heading north on I-295 between Pennsylvania Ave and Rt. 50, that one is notorious. They are next to impossible to fight, though you can sign an affidavit that you were not the one driving (though I believe you do have to name the person who was driving, including providing their drivers license information.)

EDIT - Good Article

Why dont you stop judging people without knowing them at all.

Come live my life and we'll see what kind of ethics you have.

If it is where I think it is, it is a 4-lane, limited access divided highway that passes through pretty much the worst part of DC, if you were actually crazy enough to go 45mph you'd be rearended in a heartbeat. That is except for the one short stretch where the camera car is always parked - people slame on their brakes right before that stretch then floor it once passed.

If you have Google Earth, this is where it is [38°53'53.09"N / 76°56'56.02"W].

They have no proof it was you...fight it.

I've gotten 5 or 10 of these things and it's my parents name on the car so my dad just sends in a picture of his drivers license saying it's not him and they dismiss it. They do give you an option to report who itwas but he's not gonna do that 🙂
