A London man was charged after a Dodge Viper sports car was clocked going 193 km/h -- rendering it a blur, the arresting officer said -- near Grand Bend on Saturday.
The powerful car was doing 113 km/h over the posted speed limit.
The man faces a $1,300 speeding fine and the loss of his licence for six months.
OPP stopped the driver of the Viper along Highway 21, near Pinery Provincial Park, about 2:30 p.m.
The car was stopped just south of Grand Bend, as it slowed in traffic entering the Lake Huron village. The posted speed limit is 80 km/h.
OPP said they can't recall a ticket for such a high speed on a county highway before.
"I've been around 18 years and I've never stopped anybody at that rate of speed,'' said Lambton OPP Const. Luke George.
George said there was nothing in the arresting officer's report to explain why the driver was going so fast.
George said speeding is dangerous, especially in that area at this time of year because it's deer rutting season.
"Those bucks get aggressive and nothing scares them,'' he said.
Nigel ******, 50, has been charged with careless driving and speeding and is to appear in Sarnia court.
