Warcraft 4 is WoW, I doubt they will do another RTS since it would mess with the Lore even though they supposedly screwed it up bad enough already.

I'm surprise that it has been in development for this long and there is still hardly any information on it other then I think release date is targeted for Q3 2013??? Don't quote me on that. But for such a big development group I was hoping there would be a ton of hype about it by now. Especially if they want it to succeed people need to be convinced not to play any other games and wait. From experience most MMOs get their addicted crowd from the beginning.

I hate WoW for this exact reason. It ruined any chance of warcraft 4.

Star Control MMO ftw.

Make it Shattered Galaxies crossed with Freelancer/Eve and Star Control ftw.

Faction controlled stars yield a certain amount of resources generated and automatically distributed per day.

Blizzard has gone on record saying it is going to be a totally new IP. They've also hinted at it being some sort of huge social networking experiment. Wouldn't surprise me if it winds up being some sort of present day setting.

Whatever it is, it is sure to be ultra-casual with in-game micro-transactions for real money for anything and everything.

I predict it will be filled with people who will use general chat as their own personal soap box.

Everquest I have to say is awesome for chatting.

General channels can be joined from any server, in fact, all channels except guild, group, say, and zone wide shout/out of character are formed manually by typing /join general(for example. A channel can be named anything, standard names are General auction or market, etc). And if you are on Rathe server you can type /join firiona.general to join Firiona Vie's general channel.

Whereas in SW TOR it sucks, the only channel you can be in is that of the planet you are at. Move somewhere else and your conversation is terminated.

Fortunately, that means it could be a AAA shooter MMOFPS.

lmftfy :p

I certainly hope it is, and, perhaps most importantly, it actually has good MMOFPS mechanics (an impossible feat, if history has anything to say on the matter).

Do we really want Blizzard to release another MMORPG? Unless it's "WoW 2", I cannot see them diversifying and diluting their MMO market with something that similar. An MMOFPS, on the other hand, likely will not cannibalize their own WoW market (not too heavily, at least).
That, and I could not possibly care any less if they release another MMO remotely similar to WoW. Just not my cup o' tea. ;)

If Starcraft gets the MMO treatment (I doubt Diablo will ever get an MMO treatment, not unless they lose their minds and go full retard on us), I think it would truly work best in the MMOFPSRPG mold (a messy mold, that) and has the concepts/plots/ideas that could work most appropriately with FPS mechanics, if pushed in the direction of MMO land.

Oh, I want it to be an MMOFPS, the reason I said "unfortunately" is because I don't want my MMOFPS to be casual. Casual like BF3 and CoD. I don't want it to be realism oriented like ArmA or indeed, World War 2 Online, either.

When I hear "casual", and think of an MMOFPS, I think of easy-mode help from the game such as all enemies having a bright red marker over their heads that make them able to be seen from miles away. Zero possibility of stealth at all.

No new details on this really. Last anyone knew it was an "original IP" and not linked to an existing product, so no WoW, SC, Diablo. And I imagine it wont be a fantasy mmo as that would directly compete with WoW.

Something sci-fi wouldn't surprise me, the gameplay is what I'm interested in.

i had hopes for Stargate Worlds. Hard to think of much else that hasn't been done before. already a few future and modern day MMO's out there pluse a couple FF'ish wierd ones out there too.
Problem i've found with all of them is crappy graphics, even Aion used the Cryengine 2 or whatever and still had crappy graphics.

It's setting is a world much like the real world, except vampires and werewolves are real and hate each other. Some vampires are nice and only eat animal blood, but many kills and drink human blood. Werewolves are mostly nice but unpredictable. Character classes are vampire, werewolf, or awkward high-school girl. Vampires are not killed by sunlight, but they become sparkly.

It's been delayed because of copyright issues arising due to similarity with some books.

LOL.

I think it would be interesting to be a modern era, MMO. Similar to Sims turned into MMO, where you have to raise your character up into the world. Either through Moffia, political, business man, sports hero, whatever.

I mean who else wouldn't love spending hours of their life playing a game simulating a parallel version their life. Am I right? :p
