Apple doesn’t always refresh their GPU IP yearly, they do sometimes but not always.

Intel and Qualcomm do recently do update their GPU IP yearly.

So the 1 year update is good for desktops but not for mobile? Seems to me that the “roadmap realignment” it’s about saving costs.

Some do yearly cadence on mobile because that’s their primary in a certain segment of their business.

Apple tried to stop yearly cadence during the iPhone 14 era and people got mad about it.

It’s not, wrong choice of words. I guess AMD did a cost benefit analysis and decided it’s not worth it for mobile but was for desktop.


Although I would’ve loved to see a FSR4 enabled handheld, that dream has to wait till Q12027 🙁

TBF, they do have an easy to spot numbering system showing which Zen arch the model is based on. Just focus on the second last digit instead of the first one.
