That is also what the leaked roadmap suggested

Torturing hweng people Apple-style is not wise.
Apple doesn’t always refresh their GPU IP yearly, they do sometimes but not always.

Intel and Qualcomm do recently do update their GPU IP yearly.

So the 1 year update is good for desktops but not for mobile? Seems to me that the “roadmap realignment” it’s about saving costs.

You do understand that SOC layouts and tapeouts are done, by, like, actual people?
Yeah and that makes it torture-like?
Some do yearly cadence on mobile because that’s their primary in a certain segment of their business.

Apple tried to stop yearly cadence during the iPhone 14 era and people got mad about it.

In what world is DT on a 1y cadence?
It’s not, wrong choice of words. I guess AMD did a cost benefit analysis and decided it’s not worth it for mobile but was for desktop.

Although I would’ve loved to see a FSR4 enabled handheld, that dream has to wait till Q12027 🙁

Cuz it's effort.

It's an incredibly grating schedule.

I'm trying to find where AMD is doing 1y cadence on DT and kinda struggling with that.

What maths are you doing that gets you from late summer 2024 when desktop zen 5 released to late 26 when zen 6 will release that is giving you a yearly cadence? Would appreciate if you could show your workings to help me understand.

Like I said bad choice of words from my side. I meant there is a 1 yearish IP gap from now till late 2026 where DT is on RDNA4 and mobile is on RDNA3.5.
