Yeah the guest shrink states this a typical case of a messed up girl who went looking for young boys. She may have deliberately got into special ed just to find easy targets.

This is not a cougar looking for some weekend fun, this is a very broken woman.

Funny how if the genders had been reversed the terms used would be pervert and pedophile.

nope, you know why??? he's probably on ssi/disability, if he's special ed.. which means you, the taxpayer will pay her hehe!!!! parent is on disability, means the kid will get child support/disability until age 18

I doubt he's on SSI. Special education is a very large field. Based on reading the story, I'd guess that he's either learning disabled (think dyslexia, but much more varied), emotionally disturbed, or was in a classroom that was co-taught due to other LD/ED students.

I think that a teacher having sex with a MR/ID student would warrant way more attention and a harsher punishment than this. The article definitely would have mentioned the disability as well.

Not sure if paedophile is suitable when the guy was 17.

I agree, but it doesnt matter

they(nehalem, platypus et ALL) are right

if it was a dude, he would be going to PMITA prison for 10-20 years and would be registering as a sex offender

There's a double standard. One I agree with, it is not the same if the genders are reversed.

Dang, kids are so lucky today. I was in special ed classes and I never got any action like that. I even had a REALLY HOT teacher one year too... :(

Would you want to be a father at 17 though? I sure the hell wouldn't.

I think the real irony is that people will say that girls mature(emotionally) faster than boys but then get upset when older men have sex with teenage boys, but not the other way around.

If anything teenage boys should be protected more due to there lesser emotional maturity

Lets be honest. This is a case of a female judge feeling sorry for the poor pregnant child abuser.

Imagine if some 34 year old man knocked up his 16 year old former student...

male kid knocking up an adult woman is totally the same thing as a male adult knocking up a teen girl.

yeah. totally same thing, and worthy of equal treatment....

this reasoning is absurd.

If males could get pregnant, you might have a point. But you don't.

You want to think that the genders have equal responsibilities and biological needs.

They don't. Stop being purposefully stupid.

I agree its not, but the differnece of 10-20 in jail and registering vs a few months and no registration is too far a gap. way too far.

if this kid has any sort of IQ related disability than extra shame on her and send to jail longer.

(1) In terms of preventing a teenage girl getting pregnant what do you think is better?
(a) having sex with a teenage boy
(b) having sex with a 30 year old man

(2) Did you even read the story? The teacher ended up pregnant.

(3) Why does the fact that a girl can get pregnant make her less able to consent to sex?

2--uh, isn't that what we're talking about? Of course I know that.

3--this isn't about consent. You guys are arguing the double standard in punishment depending on gender. The reason for the double standard has nothing to do with consent (your appeal to "emotional maturity"), and everything to do with the clearly obvious differences in physiological consequences between the genders; and, when it comes to age, how those physiological consequences affect a teenager vs an adult in the same situation, are quite different.

Sorry, thought a simple statement to that regard was enough and that I wouldn't have to spell it out. I should know better... :)

(1) If its really about pregnancy doesn't that imply if the girl doesn't get pregnant the guys sentence should be reduced? :hmm:

(2) What worse consequences. Worst case scenario the girl has to walk down to Planned Parenthood and take a couple of pills.

Worse case for the guy is he now has a child out there that he has a hard time having contact with. Or worse he is forced to pay child support to his rapist.

(3) And I call BS on your reasoning anyway. The real reason there is a double standard is that father's want to protect the virtue of there precious flowers. And older women don't want to compete with teen girls.
