A high school special-education teacher who admitted having sex with one of her former students -- and is pregnant with his baby -- was sentenced Wednesday to a year in jail but will be released early to deliver and care for the child.
...

Kelly McKenzy Watson, 34

...
Judge Laura Halgren
...
The defendant pleaded guilty in November to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. According to a psychological evaluation, Watson is not sexually promiscuous but was naive and immature when she got involved with the then-16-year-old boy.

Lets be honest. This is a case of a female judge feeling sorry for the poor pregnant child abuser.

Imagine if some 34 year old man knocked up his 16 year old former student...

Wow. Only a year sentence, which she is getting out of to take care of a kid, and no registration as a sex offender? On top of that, she'll most likely be able to get child support from the victim?

Amazing.

Hrmm, the boy was 17 at least at the time and not a 13 year old. I find that law in the sand being drawn at 17 versus 18 a bit stupid, but whatever.

I mean come on. Can you imagine reading that as an excuse for a 34 year old man who was banging a 16 year old special-ed student?

I don't understand these teachers. Do they have such a hard time finding someone to have sex with who's not a student?

nope, you know why??? he's probably on ssi/disability, if he's special ed.. which means you, the taxpayer will pay her hehe!!!! parent is on disability, means the kid will get child support/disability until age 18

Watson was told she could not have direct contact with the teen for five years and any contact pertaining to the pregnancy and child will have to be through a third party.

Seems weird considering he'll be 24 years old.

The major issue here though are people abusing their position of power, this is no different than the boss forcing interns into unwanted sex. It's a power/dominance/predator mentality and I think closely related to rapists on that level.

And? I don't have the same old school religious based hangups on something like that.

I do have a hangup of the guy was REALLY impaired in not being able to make any mental decisions on his own. That would be truly taking advantage of him. But if he knew what he was doing and wanted it too, I fail to see the problem really.

It'll make for an interesting story when the kid grows up.

"So mummy, how did you and daddy meet?"

From the article:
"Arrested sexual development, socially isolated, negative self-image, history of abuse, are looking for access… so when you take that cocktail of those things, that's going to blow up," said Mantell.

Not to mention this one had her bio clock ticking at 33/34. If she's socially isolated all day and the only dick she sees is her students, then the fat lady will sing.

Yeah the guest shrink states this a typical case of a messed up girl who went looking for young boys. She may have deliberately got into special ed just to find easy targets.

This is not a cougar looking for some weekend fun, this is a very broken woman.

What doe religious hangups have to do with not banging your minor former students?

Also, this appears to be in California where the age of consent is 18. Ironically if you look it at Blue states tend to have higher ages of consent.

So who is it that really has the hangups?
