SOTU being delayed indefinitely?

Trump delivering anything in writing is funny. I have a mental image of crayon scribbles being involved.

Saw in the article that Stephen Miller was mentioned as being involved in writing the speech. With his input they should move it to a stadium with giant flags and lights aimed up into the sky. Trump can watch footage of Mussolini for pointers. I would say Hitler but Mussolini's body movements and expressions while speaking seem to fit Trump's buffoonery better.
 
I kept telling you guys, Nancy Pelosi was one of the most effective Speakers in modern history in her first go at it.

I get the idea that people wanted to turn the page and usher in new leadership but Pelosi brings a lot to the table. First and foremost, she’s totally unafraid to fight.

I still don't think she's the best choice in Old America (which ended when Trump won), but now we need a velociraptor and she fits the bill.

Sure, I can see plenty of good reasons for some new blood in a general sense but frankly no progressive legislation is happening until 2020 anyway. I agree, right now we need someone to stand up and defend the country and she fits that bill nicely.

For what little it’s worth, unlike fskimo who also supported Clinton, I was all in for progressive anti 1%, pro blue collar Sanders, and also for Pelosi regaining Speaker. You want new when new is better.

She's not the person we deserved, but the one we need right now.
 
My understanding that the in-person, before-Congress version of SOTU is made by request of the Speaker. So that's right out unless she changes her mind.

It's also my understanding that, while the President is mandated to tell us all how the union is doing, it's "periodically" not "annually"....and nothing says it has to be in person.

I can't see Trump giving up the chance to do a national tv rally, so the fact the Democrats are saying "let's not do it" almost guarantees some kind of press conference at least...

Yeah, really. "The economy has never been better, jobs are up, tariffs are like nothing you've ever seen, China is working with us. The only negative thing right now is the shutdown, which everyone would agree is the fault of the Democrats. Nobody wants this more than them, but it's theirs because they don't want our borders to be secure." Blah blah blah for an hour.
 
I understand Trump's psychological disorder as well as any, and grasped the implications early in 2016 campaign. Both the reactions of Clinton and Warren and the news about their remarks seemed to intelligently address it.

I would think Pelosi and Dem elements of the House have been getting input from volunteer or even paid psychologists to assist in a strategy, and I hope such is the case.

So this development about the SOTU impresses me. If Trump decides to address the country from the Oval Office, he will be his own worst enemy. It may be a spectacle not to miss. And that might be the case even if his delivery is drafted by someone else and he shows that labored struggle with the teleprompter and his sneerful breathing.

He'll just piss off more people. Definitely a good thing . . . .

Just consider. Pelosi has noted that cancelling Trump's SOTU visit is a matter of security concerns based on the shutdown furloughs. Trump would either make an Oval Office address that has a positive tone, or he'll use the opportunity to disparage Pelosi, the House Dems, and even Obama.
 
The presidential diapers will definitely need a change soon after this. Traitor baby just got put in the corner!

Basically something along the lines of:

'MS13 people are going to rape your baby, and it is all the dirty dog democrats fault. The only way to stop brown people from murdering every fine white person is to build the biggest beautiful wall you ever seen, and only I can do that. Because I am the bestest leader ever, many people say that, not the dirty dog democrats of course, but they are not the brighests people, unlike me, many people say I'm the smartest person to ever be alive, maybe Jesus was smarter, but that is questionable since he lived in the middle east.'

Then ramble on for another half hour about how great he is, how terrible the democrats are to him, and somewhere along the way confuse Washing D.C. for Washington state.

Two thumbs up, Smog! Maybe work on it some more and polish it. Then send it up to the WH. He's probably stupid enough to use it! But why not wait and see him craft something original? I'll be on the edge of my seat in front of the Tee-Vee, expecting profound hilarity.

At this point to know what Trump is going to do I just open TVTropes.com and click on sitcom. I expect any day now that he will attempt to do a quick clothes change to trick us into believing there are two of him (and most republicans will fall for it).
