Make sure you are taking the fish oil supplements that don't smell. However, that's for breath not really farting, but I'd still look into that.
If you are taking a fiber supplement, take it not too long after a meal.
Otherwise, stick with your diet and don't let this dissuade you.

If you are farting constantly, it may be an excess of fiber, however that doesn't explain the smell, which could be from the change of diet or any number of things. Keep track of everything you are taking from pills to food and if this keeps consistently you may need to narrow down which one it is.

UPDATE

Stopped eating bananas around Thursday of last week. Both amount and intensity of gas are totally back to normal now. Everything else in my diet has remained the same.

Are you going to find out why Bananas, of all things, are doing this to you? It doesn't sound like you were eating many?

That's a shame, considering they're like the most perfect piece of nutrition ever conceived.

Ever since I started making sure to eat a lot better I noticed the same, but not to the same extent. It ended up going away and now I have er, digestive problems, when I have a giant meal of crap on the rare occasion.

Apparently you can carry a lot of crap on your colon walls that just sorta sticks there and messes you up. I'm not sure on the effectiveness, but there are some supplements you can get to flush your pipes out, a sort of human drain-o. I've done a pint of prune nectar twice now and it seemed to help.

This is said in so many infomercials with no scientific merit. If you have something stuck in your colon, it's a tumor. Your body utilizes movements through a process call peristalsis that moves EVERYTHING through the bowel. There is no such thing as "mucoid plaque." Research it. It's a hoax. The only thing those cleansers do is kill your good bacteria, flush your liver, and make your feces black in the process. It's terrible for you and that guy should be shot.

Well I have an ex g/f who said anal sex was really painful so she got an anal sex starter kit or something when she married her now ex husband. It included this syringe that you'd stick up your ass and flush your rectum out with because one of the things that makes anal sex painful is impacted shit in there. She said she flushed it out pretty good and quite a bit of stuff came out even though it didn't feel like she had to go. After that, anal sex was fine.

So there is SOME merit to it.

That's impacted fecal matter, not colonic plaque. That's due to increased density and poor diet and can be fixed through an enema. However, it is a function of constipation-like symptoms. It is IMPACTED, not bound to the membrane of the lumenal wall.

That HAD To be a sarcastic post by the guy saying jamming a syringe in your asshole made anal stop hurting.

Please stop spreading this pseudoscientific rubbish. The author is a raw foodist, of the sort who would advocate sitting around eating raw foods to cure cancer.

This "mixing foods" nonsense has absolutely no science behind it. Your gastrointestinal tract churns and compresses to move food backward and forward along its length, thereby agitating the contents and both a.) breaking them up into smaller parts, and b.) forcing contact with enzymes that can cleave them to parts small enough for absorption. In other words, it mixes everything together - whatever, that is, that the stomach hasn't already mixed together. Obviously, the net movement is toward the colon, but your food generally sits in the small intestine for between 18-24 hours, plenty of time for nutrients to be digested and absorbed.

Malabsorption, when not caused by GI disease or dysfunction is either because you have consumed substances that bind nutrients (or enzymes) in the small intestine, speed transit through, or are consumed in excessive quantities, inhibiting absorption. They travel to the LARGE intestine, where fermentation occurs by bacteria - substances fermented in the large intestine, however, are things which human beings cannot digest or are unable to metabolize in large quantities (e.g. dietary fibers, lactose, etc.). I find the supposition that mixtures of certain foods "promoting" fermentation to be utterly laughable. Arguably, you want to promote fermentation and proliferation of colonic bacteria, which are associated with improved immune function, decreased cholesterol, improved GI health, more regular bowel movements, etc.

OP had crazy farts because he boosted his fiber, nothing more, nothing less. I frankly think that he may have been consuming a bit too much fruit and too little vegetable in comparison, and am not necessarily convinced that bananas are the reason - but if removing them solves the problem, more power to him.

LOL. Similar situation with me. Once I realized that I shouldn't be drinking (however good it tastes) protein drinks with strawberries whole milk in it (as you absorb nothing), I switched to only adding water. However, for the next month (this wasn't long ago...lol) I had incredibly bad gas. I had no idea what was causing it. I'm not sure if I changed my eating habits subconsciously (as far as I know, I didn't lol), or if my body got used to it, but now I don't have these problems. At the same time I noticed I'm definitely not as sore as before ;) I'm guessing my body adapted to it.

Oh I just read the rest of the replies...looks like it was the protein. I'm glad those times are over, I was scared of people entering my cubicle, and even I, at times, had to simply go take a brisk walk because I couldn't stand the smell. I guess next time rather than immediately start a routine of injesting 75 of protein, I should build up slowly :p

Oh, might I add, the craps that (eventually) came along with the farts were some of the nastiest in this world
