sore feeling the day after. i love it.

i have difficulty walking. i can't reach certain parts of my body either cuz i'm too sore or flexible enough. i probably would be the last person out of a burning building because of decreased mobility.

yet, i love the feeling. makes me feel like i had a good work out (yes, i know it's not a good indicator). i feel like i'm bigger than i really am. 😛 i feel like i can kick anyone's ass.

I love working my legs out. I have just accepted the fact 50% of the time I can barely walk, sit, stand up, because my legs are so sore. When my legs do recover(usually 4-5 days) from my work outs I feel like I'm on two springs. Not sure that I love it, but I live with it because I love the final outcome.

I rarely feel sore for some reason. I am the first couple times I try something new, but after that I rarely experience soreness.

Meh, I'm not a fan. Soreness doesn't feel great, reduces my mobility, interferes with subsequent workouts, gets in the way of massages and is sometimes a sign some part of my fitness was not quite up to par.

I like best when you've built up such a tolerance that even after the worst workouts you don't feel sore that next day. That's a good feeling!

soreness is not an indication of a good workout so don't worry about it

Muscle soreness is the best, especially when it's on big-ticket muscle groups like the quads. Nothing beats making a large muscle group sore because you know you had to put in some real effort for it. The exception is when it interferes with another workout, like a sore butt means it's hard to bike.

Do you guys find that some areas of the body are more prone to soreness following a workout than others? The day or two following my chest workouts (flat press, incline press, flat fly, incline fly, dips, push-ups) my chest feels pleasantly wrecked. But after I work out my arms and shoulders they don't really ever feel sore. Just tired and drained.

Yes, I never have a chest work out (in over a decade) that doesn't result in soreness, but getting sore biceps is very hard. Triceps hard but not as hard. Shoulders seem really difficult. Back fairly difficult.

I don't specifically exercise the muscles on the front part of my shins (flexed when pulling toes towards your knees). But they ALWAYS get sore if I'm repeating that motion. They're also really hard to stretch/massage.

My quads typically get sore more than other muscles groups.

It probably has more to do with the type of exercise you're doing - its ROM, eccentric vs. concentric motions, weight used, # of reps, etc - than the actual muscle. Just more evidence that soreness is not a good indicator of the effectiveness of your workout.

different strokes.
after a bench session, my chest hurts about as much as my shoulders, then comes the tri's. back/bi's never hurt after benching.

in fact, the only instances where i can get my bi's to hurt the day after is doing curls after not working out for months.

i can get my back to be sore by doing squats (lower back) and dl's (upper back).

quads and glutes always hurt after heaving squatting.

I like it when it unobtrusive. I don't like it when it's debilitating, like after the first time you've put in a heavy leg workout in a while. I do use it as an extra data point to think about when I'm considering changing my routine. Eventually your muscles adapt to get so efficient at an exercise you've been doing for a while that it's hard to progress any further. Lack of soreness even after hard workouts often accompanies this development.

lol I remember back when I started Krav Maga, I'd been working out steadily for a month, I thought I'd be a little sore, but alright. After the 1 hour class I was still riding the adrenaline rush and though "I'll supplement this with the gym tonight". Later that night "Yeah, I'm not going to the gym". The next morning, I woke up and my first thought "Ow". Everything hurt. 😀
