Umm.... If your original CD craps out AND the backup on your hard drive craps out I *THINK* you could justify obtaining a copy through "non-traditional" channels. 😉

I'd get rid of the RAID then. I wouldn't want to double my chances of losing 1 TB of data for "not as fast as I thought it would be" unless you're backing it up or you don't really care about the data.

What did you set up RAID for anyway? I can't imagine what you'd need 1 TB of disk space on a personal computer for other than a ton of digital video, and I don't believe either watching or editing digital video is very disk-intensive, is it?
 
Just picked up a 7200.10 300gb drive to replace my backup drive that I've been using for a year (I'm lazy 😛). All my important data is on my RAID-1 Array (2x160gb). So now I'm up to 460gb on my desktop, which is more than enough for me for a while. I have a 40gb on my Dell laptop that is pretty full because of all the crap that Dell installs on it, have contemplated picking up a 100gig 7200rpm drive for the laptop, but it doesn't get really heavy use so I'll probably manage with what I have for now.
 
On one machine:

All machines:

80GBX2+250GBX2+300GB+120GB+ about another 100GB on assorted laptops, older systems, etc

Puts me just over 1TB.

764GB for me and I probably don't need it since I can burn them to DVDs. I guess I'll burn them eventually so i can free up my hard disks.
 
3 300GB HD in RAID 5. Half full so far. I have 3 ports left on card though. So expansion is possible.

Just a 120 in my main system and only recently have I even gotten close to filling that up. Would sort of like a 320 but don't feel like spending the money on one right now.
 
Some of my servers at work are connected to 2 TB Fibre Channel disk arrays with 14 146 GB drives, but since that's standalone storage it probably doesn't count.

The most storage that I have on just one server is currently 1.5 TB... 6 300 GB SCSI drives in a RAID-5 array.
