Soo...Just got a call from comcast, apparently 374GB is too much?

According to my math, he would be DL'ing at an avg of 766 kb/s.

I hate crap like this. They sell you an "Unlimited" connection and then threaten to disconnect you for using too much bandwidth...

You should tell them that you are using approximately 0% of the bandwidth your contract says you can use. Then, when they cut you off, sue them. That's just not acceptable.

you dont have to sit and watch the downloads go....hell, most of my stuff gets downloaded when I'm out of the house....and considering theres 374 GB of it, thats a lot of time out of the house.

btw my connection is at least 7mbit, i've maxxed out at 1.5MByte/sec occasionally, but typically it is around 500-550KBytes/sec

The "unlimited" goes away as soon as your connection starts becoming a burden for your node. Apparently you live in the boonies if you got THAT far.

agreed...I was downloading a lot...but i could easily have downloaded more....I dont think earthlink DSL is available here....if it is, i might have to snag it up!


and shens? why would i make this up? let alone pick 374GB as a number, and yes, my server is 1.8 TB, not to mention the burning spree's i go on. I dont live in the boonies, i live in a city, and its pretty crowded so my node probably is overloaded...

Oh, have you actually read the Comcast TOS? Because they say they have the right at their sole discretion to decide if you represent an burden to the network and to warn you accordingly. So what would he be suing for again?
 
Seriously what are you doing that requires that much downloading/uploading? Just tell us we already assume pr0n 🙂

Um.. what then, movies? Programs? Games? Are you around the house so much you can watch movies so fast you need them at a constant rate? Do you continually need new games every few hours? I dont understand what you could possibly be downloading that would require that much bandwidth. Any normal person wouldn't have enough time during a day to watch/play/use all the crap that was just downloaded

Thank you.. I couldnt remember the wording, but you are correct. Granted I dont think advertising unlimited....when its not is right, but then again, some would say the same about downloading 😉

DVD's ar 4.5GB, xbox games typically 2GB +, TV series ~ 5 GB per season unless its DVD, which would be 7 DVD's or so. it all adds up apparently
