<< dammit why don't they have the 32" 16:9 wega! >>

The "XBR" is supposed to handle 16:9 mode a little better than the 'standard' Vega. However, the 32" XBR has a MSRP of $2,199.

Did they get hip to what we are doing?

Its very strange that they seem to have both 32" and 36" in stock now. This morning, they had nothing and implied that it wasn't going to be available anytime soon. Red Carpet shipping was increased to $80 and $20 off $100 didn't work.

Now everything is back to what is was couple days ago. Red Carpet shipping back to $40 and $20 off coupon works again. Very STRANGE!

I guess they figured MSN was going to pull the plug and decided to make more TV's. Dunno really, just speculating. Even if I don't it anytime soon, I don't mind as long as its before Christmas. Woohoo.

Now, time to buy an armoire for it which by the way is going to cost me twice as much. :(

CrazyBubba,

The shipping on the 36" Vega is $79.## - up from the $39.## that it was a few days earlier. I had conversations with more than one CSR @ 800.Com after the original deal broke and the 32" VEGAs were out of stock. According to them, they thought it was highly unlikely that they would get more stock until after the beginning of the year. I guess this sudden surge in inventory kind of invalidates their statements. I wouldn't rate their knowledge any higher than a typical employee @ Best Buy or CompUSA at this point.

Then again, maybe 800.Com intentionally removed the items from their site with the intention of bringing them back during the last few hours of this promotion.

These issues are not something that can concern me at the moment, though. I need to clear some space so I can utilize this thing once it arrives.

anyone tracking their order online?

i just checked again and now my order status is "preorder" WTF?

first, it was "awaiting shipping", then it was "vendor backordered", now it's "preorder"???

this is ridiculous. they better deliver my set on time or i might have to make a call to my local consumer protection agency.

how is 800.com anyway? are they respectable? this is my first time purchasing from them.

FunkmasterT,

I'm sure everything will be fine with your order - and ship properly and on-time. Comments about 800.Com's customer service have been quite favorable.

thanks for the reassurance rje....i feel alot better now.

btw, if anyone's looking for a stand, circut city has a good price on an o'sullivan wall unit, $200 that accomodates a 36". it's a beautiful unit, looks like something ikea or pottery barn would sell. i've seen equivalent units elsewhere for $350+

CAn you explain how this work, it will accept a signal from a Progressive Scan DVD, and will be able to play it using Progressive Scan Technol0gy. Or is this just a connect for future upgrades???????????

My understanding of progressive scan is it is a non-interlaced format. I thought the only Wega's capable of this were the XBRs (upto 1080i).

mine has been shipped, im so happy :D:D:D

im a little scard though, people are trying to tell me i should have gotten the JVC in the latest consumer reports, or even a GE, and a few years down the road, get an HDTV. the difference is $50-200, respectively.

did i do the right thing in getting my discounted WEGA?

Plus you have 30 days to change your mine with 800.com. They have a good return policy.

sounds good :)

but as for their return policy, do i have to pay a restocking fee or shipping? also, do you think i should by a warranty for the TV, in the latest Consumer Reports, sony isnt too good or bad as far as repairs go, and i want ot be safe

I am located in California.

They called on wednesday to setup a delivery date (22) for the 24th.

Yes, it means that you can use the progressive scan outputs of a DVD to the Wega... any differences? I don't know.. haven't tried it yet.

Anyone know if there are any "special" cables for progressive scan ???? I would ask my engineers at work, but that ain't till monday.. =(

The wega is HEAVY as hell and barely fit through my apartment door..

Guys, DONT throw out the 800.com flyers that come with your delivery. they each have individualized 20 off 100 coupons.. use them for your stands in combo with the MSN 20% off, for a total of 140 for the sony stand... (the 36 inch version) Unfortunately it is out of stock..

but if you guys got the 32 inch wega, you can use the same deal to get the 32 inch stand at a sweet price of 124 plus shipping.. enjoy

I was about to get the vega, then I realized something... I already have a 32 inch Sony! Damn, I get caught up in these forums and then buy duplicates! Besides, HDTV is around the corner, and justifying a big screen non-HDTV set is impossible. Just think about it, next year, most screens 32 inch and larger will be of the HDTV variety, and along with HDTV comes higher overall picture quality for the same price... In my opinion, this deal wasn't hot at all considering the technology inside it will be obsolete in no time. If HDTV wasn't around the corner (or invented), then this deal would be a mother lode!
