From what I've read about LCoS, though, it doesn't seem to be any "better" than DLP or LCD. It simply allows for higher resolution at a cheaper price. Are there any reviews out yet?

It really has to be seen to be believed. I bought a Samsung 720p DLP set last fall, and I've been very pleased with it, but I was VERY tempted to spring for an SXRD set instead, in spite of the fact that the first-gen SXRD sets were in a hideous cabinet and cost $1500 more than my TV. The SXRD image quality is just stunning. My own feeling is that it's the best IQ of any TV available, including direct-view CRTs (as it happens my mother has a 34XBR960, arguably the best CRT set ever made, and often used as an IQ benchmark for all other sets), LCD, plasma, and all other RPTV sets.

I am curious what is this 30% off coupon you speak of? I plan on jumping to DirectTV and my wonderful wife gave me the go ahead on the NFL Sunday ticket. I noticed best buy has an in store deal about $400 back (when you spend $200) if you buy an HD TV with DirectTV. I was looking for coupons to make this deal even sweeter, since this is basically the TV I have been looking for. Also does BB price match?

Anyone know how to put this together for maximum saving?

Sony 50" LCoS 1080p -> DirectTV with NFL Sunday Ticket -> Coupons/Price matching

there's gotta be a way to come out way ahead here, I'm just not seeing it.

Yeah, what's this coupon?

Do a search on FW for Best Buy Back to School Coupon Code Cracked - 30% off!!!

Sorry I can't post a link... usually forums don't like that.

I think it's still valid. Of course it's a huge YMMV. Some people reported being able to use it with the large Westinghouse monitors/tvs (22/37/42")

50" Zenith....Z50PX2D..$1999 @ Circuit City right now...find a 10% coupon floating around. Zenith is owned by LG, hence this TV shares many parts with the more expensive LG plasma line. This model has some nice reviews on the AVS forums.

Extremely tempting, as I need another tv right now, but I'm going to be out of town for 3.5 weeks so it's not worth it until I get back. Who knows, prices on these things decrease every couple of months lately as better and better tvs come out, the price can only get better. :D

Nice find though!

I've read that some of these sets have some kind of delay that makes them bad for playing games, anybody know more about that?

Thank goodness Sony listened to us and 86'ed the dumbo speakers on the 50" & 60" 2005 SXRD's. :)

I wonder how SD content looks on it compared to my 2005 model E50A10. Don't get me wrong I have a passion for HD, and even though I have all of the HD channels on DISH there are still so many channels that are not broadcasting in HD yet. The SD programming on my TV is some of the best that I've seen and it's being upconverted to 720P. I think satellite receivers also play a role in the grand scheme of things as well. My ViP622 seemed to clean up the SD image quality quite a bit; then again it may have been a placebo. :p

If you search google for "Circuit City 10% expires Sep 6" , you can find some coupons for 10% off $199 or more

You gotta hurry though because they coupon ends tonight. I ordered mine and got it for $2,024.99 + tax

I'd also recommend the 2 year extended warranty, it's good a good bet that you may need a bulb replacement at the very least after three years use.

Do you mean goto: Techbargains

Coupon for 10% is posted and is on CCs website.

No, I mean search for the 10% off $199 coupon.

Then you get the 10% discount you're talking about plus an additional 10% off the new total. (2,499 - 10% = 2,249 - 10% = $2,024.99)

Great price for a great TV. I could see myself getting this TV however it is a tad too big to fit in my room. Just more encouragement for me to move out.

How much do replacement lamps generally cost for these? I tried googling the exact model, but it doesn't look like they're selling them yet. I'm impressed with the price and definitely like the size, quality, technology.... I would like a flat panel so I can wall mount the sucker though...

I'm just wondering what the lamp costs will be over time and whether or not I'd be better off going with the largest LCD I can get.

LOL @ Circuit Citys "Required" accessories - $125 Monster Cable HDMI cable.

Monster cable FTL.
Expensive digital cables FTL.

(And yes, I know purchasing this cable is not actually required for purchasing this TV, it's just funny how dumb CC thinks their customers are..)

Does everyone else get the "for pickup in store only" even though they are being charged $55 for delivery? Not that I bought it but I wanted to see what my total (hopefully delivered) would be.

I pulled the trigger on this last night. I went to Best Buy as there is no CC in my area, and they price matched. What kills me is they asked me the price to be matched AND DID NOT CHECK!

I shoulda low balled them a bit. But hey I got my TV finally, pick up today!

Good enough for those who have the space for a Projection TV.
Pretty hot price considering it's a Sony.

Too bad I just bought a really cheap 42" 1080p LCD

Best non plasma?? All you people are asking how it compares with a DLP, and I'm sure it's very good against a DLP.

But if you want the top LCD display, you have to go wtih Sony's XBR Bravia displays like the XBR-2/3. None of the lower end ones even come close. Full 1080p. Sure it costs a whopping 4299 for a 46" screen, but it's damn worth it.

I've compared with a Pioneer elite head to head, and while the Pioneer Elite offers brilliant colors and what not, the 720p is not satisfying to me.
