'm sorry but iTunes is one of the best MP3 Players/Collection Software there is. From a Usability point of view.

I'm sorry, too. Why should I be tied to any particular software to manipulate my files?

Fix your post then.

My F707 purchased in mid 1992, has 14,000 images under its belt, with nye a glitch... EVER.

Sometimes, it's just easier. You can also use Ephod if you don't want to use iTunes. You also eat the soup with a spoon, why try to use a fork?

That's a direct quote from a linked topic that I can't edit, so it stays as is, warts & all.

On second thought, I can fix it, and still be true to the original...

For those people who don't know how to manage their music collection in Explorer - iTunes is for you.

From a "usability" point of view - it doesn't get much easier than right-clicking a folder > Play in Winamp...😀

But Winamp is a PITA if you want to organize your music.

You Apple apologists are so goddamn irrational. It's not bad enough to pay more for hardware that does less than the competition, but then you have to make excuses for the proprietary means to operate the damn things! Christ, if you'd step back for a second and listen to yourselves, you'd crawl in a corner from embarrassment!

I gave an answer to your question, you didn't. Have a nice day.

Try reading the OP and let me know how it could have turned out any different.

Same with topics about wires & cables. It's always going to include mention of Monster Cable fanbois etc.

SONY's mantra is "Take a device everyone is making, then add 40% to the price because people will think the SONY brand is better than everyone else's."

That way of thinking is why Samsung is starting to beat them up.

With a couple corrections, that statement is spot on!

Sony is just as guilty of thisas anyone else. Look at the price of the Sony Shuffle and explain to me how it is worth what they are asking.

And who built the first hard drive based mp3 player?

Sure. And the iPod is the Walkman of digital music players. And obviously, by the number of iPods Apple is selling, the market can bear what they charge for their product.

I fail to see the difference.

When competing products finally emerge with lower prices, they have to drop their prices accordingly, and they do. I notice Monster Cable sells a helluva lot of cable at extremely inflated prices despite their ultra-hype being ridiculed throughout the Web and elsewhere. This is more a reflection on the sheep who buy into the hype, than the product itself!

eh..monster cable is based on pseudo science.

ipods are based on superior design and total package, its just simple fact.

some people are a bit blind, like the linux geeks who wonder why all the t00ls are using winblows😛

superior design???? how do you figure? I have a creative jukebox zen xtra and a buddy of mine has an ipod and mine is a lot easier to use because of that stupid touch wheel that they have.

You're right about the Monster cable, because that is something that can be proved or disproved.

But saying that the Ipod is superior is purely a subjective opinion. You can't prove that it's superior. Some people do not like the Ipod or any Apple products for that matter.

I know people who love Macs, but I'm not impressed at all. I don't like their design or interface, which seems too bubbly and gay for my tastes. It's subjective.

Apple has dropped their prices. You make it sound like they put out the 5GB and 10GB iPods four years ago at $400 and $500 and haven't changed anything about them or lowered the prices.

Compare the price of an iPod 4GB Mini to that of a Creative Zen Micro 4GB or iRiver H10.

Same with the iPod Photo 30GB and the iRiver H340. I would throw Creative's product in there too, but they don't offer color screens or photo viewing on their Zen line.

And I agree with you regarding the Monster Cable analogy. The truth is that most people are uninformed when it comes to this type of stuff. If the salesman at Best Buy tells someone that paying $90 for a component video cable is a good idea, they are probably going to listen because they are either too lazy or too busy to find out for themselves. The same could be said for the iPod. But at the same time, Apple does make a compelling product that is very easy to use. For a lot of people, iPod is synonymous with a portable mp3 player. It is their own fault for not finding out what else is out there.

That being said, most people who buy iPods probably just want an mp3 player. They don't care if it has support for OGG files or that it has an FM tuner, etc. They want something simple. Apple provides that.

Maybe I am crazy, but if you have 1GB-60GB of music available to you, why in the hell would you need an FM tuner?
