typical overpriced sony crap... they do make some nice high end stuff but 90% rule seems to apply extraordinariliy well when it comes to sony products.

If they bring some of the better, old-school Playstation games to PSP -- particularly Final Fantasy 7/6 or Chrono Trigger -- then I'll shell out $300.

If they're smart, that's what they'll do. Look what porting NES and SNES games has done for the GBA.

plus if Memory Stick pro's ever come in 1GB format then I'm in.

Sony has had a 1GB ms pro for well over 6 months...

Goes to show you how much I've been keeping up. In that case, since the games come on 1.4Gb discs i'm sure you can omit certain parts of the game and fit it on a Memory Stick Pro.

Plus, by running a game on a Memory Stick you will be saving battery life.

Edit: There is actually a 2GB Memory Stick Pro available, I'll definitely be getting that plus a PSP. You know how many DivX/Xvid movies formatted for the PSP screen that you can fit on a 2GB memory stick? Awesome!

Looks more like 2 hrs according to the same site.

Edit: Remember the Game Gear? Yeah didn't think so 😛

Sony sucks. People don't like Dell PC's for propriatary parts, Sony are much worse.

Will they even let you watch DivX/XviD movies? And play mp3's?
Sony just released a HDD based mp3 player, and they make you use ATRAC to play music (you have to convert your mp3's to ATRAC AFAIK, then you can transfer them).
Why would the PSP have mp3 playback capability, when their own HDD based music player doesn't?

I am so going to get one 😀

Saw a video of it around my friends house and it looks AMAZING.

Parents off to Bei Jing over New Years and I have asked my dad to check it out. He'll get me 2-3 if they are available and I'll sell 2 off on ebay but most likely it won't be so I'll have to wait until March 🙁

After my PS2 experiences, there is no way in hell I'm buying the first the release of any Sony product.

Your disc read error can disc read my ass.

The price has been known to be quite high...Sony's aiming for a different market here, since it's not solely a handheld gaming system.

Don't underestimate the Sony. 😉

Don't underestimate Sony fanboys 😛

Still, I don't see the PSP eating too much of Nintendo's market share.

Yeah my 1st PS2 started to eat up the discs (scratch) but sod that it was the only system that had the games I wanted to play (Tekken series, GT3, MGS, etc). If nother system had the games I wanted I would have gotten that instead.

Sent the first PS2 back to Sony and got my replacement. That also died but my little bro has played the living day lights out of it! So I'm not suprised it went really. Then bought another one and he is playing the day lights out of that.

So can't await for a PSP. Would be nice to game on my commute as I don't play my PS2 as much anymore.

divx/xvid support would be NICE but not a deal breaker and I don't see Sony offering that since they want to sell movies on UMD. If the mod is out then that would be good.

 here is to multi player GT4 😀

Of course it won't...its $300. Thats way to much for an anti parenting tool... 😉

you can watch movies on your psp 16:9, that appeals to me...of course they have to be on a minidisc or something

i LOVE watching movies on 3 inch screens... not to mention buying another copy of the movie i already have on DVD, and its gonna be GREAT needing to charge it after every movie

i especially like sonys track record with the ps2, i mean, do you ever hear about a ps2 breaking? think how awsome this portable is going to be!! it would totally suck if this thing ever gets dropped(im glad i never ever drop anything!)
