Assuming he had a 1.13 ghz processor to start with, which is highly unlikely, that would mean a multiplier of 8.5. In order to get up to 1.8 ghz, the fsb would have to be overclocked to over 200 mhz. If he has a slower processor to start with, then the overclock is even more unlikely. This going along with you bs temperature of 49C for a cpu that is supposedly watercooled. And if this guy has so much money, why is he only running an ata66 hd? You'd think he'd have some ibm 75gxps.

I just noticed it was only a ghz processor to start with. That means 7.5 multiplier which would entail an overclocking of the fsb to 140. *cough*BS*cough*

My conclusion? This guy is full of sh|t, and it sounds like a mockery. If not, and you are really honest vvvvv, then your friend is fooling you. I know someone that will pay $4500 cash for that chip if it runs at 1.8 GHZ and 49 deg. I'm sure Intel will want it too, because they are having problems running that high

i guess, but that pci speed is insane...


And on top of that, i don't believe p3s will hit 1.8 ghz even with super nitrogen cooling.

i seriously doubt it too. which is why, if vvvvvv has any pride or gnads whatsoever, he will go to his friend's place, load wcpuid, take a hi-res screenshot and post it somewhere for all of us to see. i'm assuming that his friend also has a hi-speed t10 connection...

Hey,

Maybe if he used one of these:

Some mass specs have a cold plate in them that is cooled by helium refrigeration. Surface of cold plate is 14 kelvin (thats right 14 degrees above absolute zero). In the mass spec its a vacuum pump because all of the atmosphere sticks too it.

Of course to use this to cool a cpu you would have to seal the case to prevent moisture from getting in. Otherwise you would have an ice ball the size of a basketball growing on it. When you seal the case the cold plate will pull a near perfect vacuum in the case (at least 10^-5 torr). So if you can overcome those problems it might make it to that speed.
I should point out that I'm not talking about just pouring liquid helium on it. This is a compressor based refrigeration system like you would find in your car or home, it just uses helium as a refrigerent fluid instead of freon.

I doubt he reached 240 fsb the pci and agp cards would never take that kind of overclock. I doubt even 150mhz cas2 rated ram could reach that high(unless he used video card ram and soldered it to a dimm somehow but I doubt it)

notice how wwwww, ISN'T responding. Oh, he must be at his friends house getting our screenshots. 1.8ghz isn't even thinkable with the pIII core. It can't go that high. Intel has said it themselves that the architecture can only get up to around 1.4ghz.
