Yep. Epson sucks ass.

I had the same problem, called Epson, they told me replacement heads were $300.00! The damn printer only cost $100.00 (Stylus 800), they told me they expect people to RMA them during warranty for head replacement. Sounds like they don't expect the heads to last the 1st year.

I will never buy ANYTHING Epson again.

Inkjet printers are horrible. Use laser ones instead. I got an HP Laserjet 6l old back printer, it's 6 years old, and it still works like new. The only things I had to replace were a paper feeder (1) and had to refill the toner cartridge several times, but it'd still going strong.

I often have similar sentiments toward my three, however each one is larger than my car so it probably isn't feasible. :D

I've used my old canon bubble jet 240 for over 4 years now, and have no problems. But the ink cartridges are friggan expensive, so I'm going to buy an old HP LaserJet printer. I don?t use it all that much, so it should last a long time. :)

I absolutely hate printers.... yes, you should smash it.... I had a 680C i busted into tiny little pieces, I took the motors out and sweeped the rest into a dust pan. never in my life have i hated a piece of equipment so much... that thing SUCKED!!!!!!!!

i just plain hate printers... that's why i don't own one.... if i gotta print i email it to work and print it off on the color laser.

I want to smash your printer, too.

Actually I have an Epson 780 that I haven't really used very much lately and it has the same problem. I'm not looking forward to dealing with it!

I have an Epson 780 too!!! I waste more ink cleaning the print heads than doing some actual printing. I've tried using it at least once a week so the heads don't get dried up, no workie! I have to clean the print heads at least 3 times before usage. I have a good ole HP 722 which has been working great for the last 4 years!!! No more EPSON!

argh epsons are the most tempermental printers!

i had a 740 which performed beautifully for two years. finally, it just would not print anymore. i hit print and i got blank sheets of paper. i changed the ink cartridges and i got blank sheets of paper. my dad took it apart as did my brother and it's still non functional.

i now have an 820 that's a complete PAIN in the behind. i bought the 820 because i thought i just messed the 740 up by using generic cartridges but i guess not...

my next printer will be a laser. i'll keep a color one around for kicks... but i want a laser more.

I haven't printed with mine in months! Last time I tried it was not very pretty. There are some chemicals out there and techniques that can be used to clean the print head. Apparently there are cleaning cartridges that some of the refill vendors sell. I might look into what exactly those are... It really is a big pain though! Very easy to use if you print a lot but otherwise...

I wish they had some way of sealing off the print head and keeping it humid so this problem would not exist. It is a poor design!
