Someone shot my Great Aunt

I'm not sure why she needs to have a gun. She's lived in this house for 45 years, she raised her kids here and has never had a break in. There is a guy in the neigbhorhood that checks in on seniors. There was a snowstorm last night and this hooligan broke in at the crack of dawn and did this because he thought they wouldn't be able to track him.

The shooter was a 23 year old male who didn't even finish what he came for. He broke in to rob her, but seemed to freak out when he found her at home in the bed.

It makes sense that he would break in this early because her daughter leaves for work in her car, perhaps he thought no one was home.

This is disgusting nonetheless and when my mother called and told me, my heart sank..because she is 72, and he mother is 95 years old, suffers from Dementia and lives in a nursing home. They are old women who don't bother anybody and clowns have already started breaking into her mothers house while she is away in the nursing home.

Anyway sorry for your great Aunt. I'd be agitated too even if I didn't have schizophrenia. Best wishes that she recovers from the attack.

And this is why a good dog trumps a gun in a lot of home break-in situations. Much better deterrent and I don't know how many opportunity, smash-and-grab burglars want to face a tough-sounding dog just to get inside a home.

There are numerous things to do to reduce break ins. A gun isn't a deterrent either, outside lighting is, bushes cut away from the house, alarms signs, beware of dog signs are, burglar bars, security doors.

You should never approach home security under the false impression that a gun does anything beyond allowing you to have better odds against someone in a confrontation.
 
I just came back from seeing her in the hosital. They said she suffered clean through and through. She is okay and they will probably have her home by Monday.

I hope they put his ass under the prison.
