He broke into her house this morning and shot her multiple times while she was asleep in bed. He did not kill her and she was able to call 911, they tracked him and found him hiding in a furnace in an abandoned house.

What the fuck......

I recognized the house as soon as I saw this on the news. She is okay but she is a bit agitated.

She's a schizophrenic and this incident has sent her into a frenzy, the nurses and doctors at the hospital are trying their best to calm her down but she doesn't want anyone touching her.

Wow. What a moron. Who shoots somebody and then leaves shoeprints in the snow?

Glad she's okay.

Hope she is ok. Detroit is out of control, of course living in Chicago isn't much better. We have more gun homicides in 2013 than there have been days.

That is terrible, I hope she is ok. I'm sorry she had to go through this.

You need to send her to a good self defense course and get her armed with a pistol.

If she's 70 and schizo, maybe she shouldn't be living by herself in Detroit.

I am being absolutely 100% serious and did not intend to offend you. I am worried for your grandmother and want her to feel safe as she clearly currently is not prepared for something like this. If not a gun then bar the windows/doors or whatever you're comfortable with.

I'll just leave it at that.

Then don't comment here. Its simple.

If she's 70 and schizo, maybe she shouldn't be living by herself in Detroit.

She lives with her daughter, who was at work at the time. She has meds and someone in the neighborhood that checks on all the seniors. This happened around 5AM.

Nothing like this has ever happened to her ever and she's lived in that house for most of her life.

These hooligans are ruining Detroit.

He said his aunt is a schizophrenic. Do you think it is a good idea for a schizophrenic to own a gun?

Now either you didn't read the thread (past the first couple of lines) and decided to offer up your completely uneducated opinion, or you are suffering from some kind of mental disorder and should seek help.

I'm all for having in gun for self defense but I don't think someone who is schizophrenic would be the best choice to be armed.

OP: I hope she has a fast recovery.

She's a schizophrenic. I doubt she'd be eligible to own a gun, and even if she is this is neither the time nor place to ruffle feathers. Leave the tragic exploitationism to the gun grabbers.

OP: Sorry to hear. Might be time to start looking into rest homes if you guys can afford it.
